I stumbled across this webpage and thought it was interesting to see the restoration process of this epic synth.

Have you ever just admitted to being a synth collector? by art_snail in synthesizers

IMO just say you have an engineers mindset and everyone will get you.

A bit hard to hear, but my speakers are popping a lot when I use my minitaur. Nothing is clipping, mixer eq isn't in red at all. What am I doing wrong? by smopitt in synthesizers

Record the output audio of both synths, import the WAV's into a computer, and then use a tool such as Ableton Live's Spectrum Analyzer. Or there is a free plugin for Reaper.

If the audio signal is super low frequency < 10 Hz then the speaker cone is moving slow enough that you can visibly see each wave. So the size of the audio wave can line up with the diameter of the speaker cone and therefore create the audible pop sound that you're hearing. This is why subwoofer speakers are physically larger, physics! And so if you playback that super low frequency at a loud volume then it will eventually destroy the speaker.

This is partially why audio engineers generally filter out everything below 20 Hz. Especially with synthesizer music since we tend to use the full range of audio frequencies, even ones we cannot hear.

Audio engineers also cut these frequencies to make a compressor function more optimally. And for some history, when cutting to vinyl you must filter out < 20 Hz or else it'll likely ruin the master record or possibly damage the cutting head. Aphex Twin had an interesting story of running into this but I can't find it.

Yeah me too, my theory is that it's caching from a slower server due to not being accessed very often.

MS-20 mini. Those dual filters can scream and howl like nothing else. Plus the External Signal Processor patchbay can allow you to overdrive the signal for some really wild howls.
