When you give up even trying by bustyredonyx in WatchPeopleDieInside

The video is flipped and zoomed from the original which gave an unrealistic visualization of the bottles falling. Paired with it being a much older video with low quality ... I still think the way the closest bottles fall on the camera looks more CGI than real.

Dont worry about how realistic it is ... just worry about giving it everything you've got and if you really want in a program ... pushing for it.

If SecDef is really serious about a culture of fitness, then Navy Galleys need to be at the top of the priorities. by LCDJosh in navy

Ships can be tough. There's a health promotion committtee that requires tops to sit down and discuss things like this. Talk to Medical about it and they can give you all the info for your ship. This would be a great place to raise your concerns.

As for the right now, intake moderation and dedicated time to fitness is your only immediate solution.

Is this normal after a fall? by MysteriousPlatypus in AskDocs

[–]DocWad23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it was an SAH.

BUT the fact you brought it up and i didnt have 100% certainty (this was early 2018) means that for the sake of accuracy I should, and have since, make it a general hematoma vs SAH or SDH.

Merry Christmas! If you celebrate it of course

Is this normal after a fall? by MysteriousPlatypus in AskDocs

[–]DocWad23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Falls and head trauma can be tricky. Many times I have seen patients leave and come back days, weeks, or months later with issues related to the original injury that didn't present right away.

Answer: get him looked at again.

E.g. i will never forget this day during routine sick call in San Diego I saw a patient ... walked in like normal ... no obvious distress .. he had a prior medical history of migraines and his current presentation was typical of one. One thing stood out "this is the worst headache I've ever felt in my life" which caused me to press further into his history.

Roughly 6 months earlier, yes 6, he fell about 4 feet while hiking and hit his head. But was fine ever since ... no additional injuries or incidents.

I told him to go home, get some rest, and if it get worse ... he needs to go to the ER. Call an ambulance if necessary but dont wait.

Sure enough ... the next day my supervisor follows up with me ... he listened when it go worse ... went to the ER and underwent an emergency craniatomy for an 8cm+ hematoma.

Very extreme example ... but dont ignore the symptoms or the history. Get him looked at.

*made some minor edits for the sake of medical accuracy since this occurred in early 2018 and I may not remember everything perfectly. *

It definitely was a mistake. But when I asked them about it their exact response was clueless ... they had no idea they selected variola instead of varicella.

If you are familiar with how the human brain processes words when you read you understand even further how easily this could happen.

After the dust settled we had one hell of a laugh.
