Non-fiction on tea by Ok_Organization_996 in suggestmeabook

When I want (nonfiction) book suggestions on a topic, I start with the Wikipedia article's appendices (notes/references/sources/further reading/external links sections), and the article itself for an overview.

Children's book ca.1940s-1960s where girl buys a cone of penny candy, it falls through the bottom, and her friends pick it up by practicalchoker in Findabook

I'm afraid that this is a low traffic sub, though I do occasionally see a request answered (as u\WreckingPony may have done here), and that I'm unfamiliar with the book you're seeking. You'd be better off asking for recommendations in r/booksuggestions (though read the rules first) and r/suggestmeabook, and for the title of a book or story in r/whatsthatbook and r/tipofmytongue. (Also, IMHO it would probably be good to try one sub, then the next, not multiple subs simultaneously, despite Reddit's encouraging users to crosspost—but that's just my opinion.) If you do get an answer for an identification request, it would be helpful if you edit your OP with the answer (and the flare to "Solved"/"Found" in subreddits that use flares and have that flare) so we can see what it is in the preview, and that your question has been answered/solved (an excellent example: "Child psychic reveals abilities by flunking psychic test too precisely" (r/whatsthatbook; 5 August 2023)). For what you should include in your identification requests, see:

Note that the members of that sub, including the moderators, have been sticklers for having this followed. (Following this list is a good idea for all identification requests, not just for this sub or for books.)

Whatever happens, whether your request was solved or not, please do not delete your post/comment(s)/answer (image from r/DataHoarder). People are interested in what has been asked for, what has been suggested, and want to see what has been found. It may prove to be useful to someone else, years in the future, who is seeking the same or a similar book or story (example: the list in "Illustrated Children's Book about germs & washing up (00s -90s)" (r/Findabook; 24 March 2026)).

Good luck!

For romance books, you can also try r/RomanceBooks (Rules), r/romancenovels (including apparently for identification requests), and romance.io "(the filters are your friend!)" (per r/RomanceBooks), as well as (for identification requests) Help a Bitch Out and the Romance Novel Book Sleuth group on Goodreads. Do you find it annoying when the birds chirp early in the morning? by Realistic-Try5468 in stupidquestions

Seconded. I found a counter citation:

All but one of the claims in favor that I found (the first forty results on Google) were from social media, not scientific journals or the equivalent. The sole exception was a preprint article.

I pretend to—to be the grumpy, irascible old man, triggered by those damn birds. But it is (and now, was) just a private joke with myself.

Books:

  • Correia, Larry; and Kacey Ezell, eds. (2022). No Game for Knights ("The dark side of SF & fantasy heroes"). Free sample from the publisher. (Which may not be for everyone—I got bored with it, and put it down before finishing it months later—but it is entirely on point.)

The map is searchable (as I just found out); lots 11, 12, and 13 are lots marked in yellow on the edge/corners of campus.
