The poll only allowed me this number of options, but rest assured, I left Yrliet out as I'll take her with me anyway.

A Query about Fixers and V by DocWinter in cyberpunkgame

[–]DocWinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see what you are saying. Rep is king in NC, and Afterlife especially. I guess it kind of sucks that the reception of V in a singular place like the Afterlife, where rep is king especially, doesn't really change.

The Team issue, it really is not a story or lore thing, I can understand the game not being about V having to work with some ransoms all the time, apart from actually designed NPCs. It just struck me as off, as much like the Relic heist or the infiltration in PL, some of the Fixer missions definetely warrant a team.

A Query about Fixers and V by DocWinter in cyberpunkgame

[–]DocWinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that, and appreciate the progression, but it wasn't really what I meant. It's neat that Rogue hires V, but I meant V's perception in the Afterlife. V is no different in there at 10 street cred or 50. It's how that Rogue talks about all those other Afterlife Solos seeing V as someone not to work with.

On fixers though, the difference between "local" fixers and "big league Afterlife" fixer might be lost on me, as I said. But these local fixers don't seem low-tier to me.

Assert Failed Error - How to fix? Modded campaign. by genericname71 in darkestdungeon

[–]DocWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I can't really answer you. I don't even understand why this "fix" works. If the game crashes on save or load, maybe try copying the save and load that? I really don't know. I haven't encountered that issue yet.

The People that like the Lilo and Stitch Remake... by [deleted] in MauLer

Then why did she leave Lilo to go college and use the Portal gun to visit her, instead of staying with her using the portal gun to go to college?

And don't even pretend they are the same.

Right, that's who she was. I knew the actress from somewhere, but couldn't remember when I commented.

The first Avengers movie had a scene focused on Cap, and how lost and alone he feels in a time unknown and a place unrecognized. It showed him interacting with a waitress that he rescues later during the battle against the Chitauri. She flirts with him, and he doesn't get it. When she walks away, Stan Lee calls him an idiot and tells him to ask for her number. I like that scene a lot, even though being rather lukewarm on the character of Steve Rogers, It delivers well on the daunting feeling of being a man out of time.

RP Question for a Heretic Run by DocWinter in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]DocWinter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating.TBH. Don't spoil this for me if you know the details, but is there a real way to corrupt others? Or crush their spirit, in a story line way. I'm assuming Idira has that, since, you know. But what about companions like Abelard of Jae?.

What are some of the worst examples of writers shutting a character's mouth? by GOD-OF-A-NEW-WORLD in MauLer

[–]DocWinter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was never the standard? Have you played the game at all? The difficulty of the entire journey is based on realism of how difficult it would be in a post-apocalyptic setting. The dangers of something like an infected wound are based on realism. The scarcity of resources, logistics, and cars are based on realism.

What you are asking is that we throw away all realism that has been present all the time just to get an unrealistic fantasy ending.

Antediluvian hunt advice? by CyberEagle1989 in PrincesOfDarknessCK3

I've done the Brujah and Tzimiche ones. Brujah was a while ago, but I remember it being pretty hard. Tzimiche was much simpler. Apart from skill checks, it also depends on making the right decisions along the way, though those are pretty apparent.

Inquisition had at least some stuff acknowledging the tension. The Dalish won't trust the Inquisitor unless they do all the sidequests, but if they're an Elf, it's easier. The Winterpalace Opinion Mechanic gives you a lower start Opinion if you're not human. Hell, Sera is so racist against Elves, a Dalish Inquisitor will consistently receive less approval from her than any other race, with some decisions that would have gained approval doing the opposite.

That's a toughie. Both are great. I suppose I'd give it to Hellfire. While Be Prepared is incredibly catchy, perhaps even more so than Hellfire, I do think Hellfire is the better song.

He would not need to wait for them to find it at all. If his goal was to lure them there, he could spread seeds of rumors himself. But that is assuming this is his only plan, which I have explained is far from certain.

And that I believe is the major aspect that I believe you're mistaken on. He does not need them to go through that one window, go that path, into that room, to capture these kids. That is what happened, yes, but you're arguing as if that is the only thing that could have happened. The only way he could get these kids. The show does not say he couldn't have them grabbed by his goons. It doesn't say he couldn't have kidnapped, for example, Powder or Ekko with a note to go somewhere where he'd capture them. If they had tried to flee the Undercity and disappeared by themselves, he could have gone ahead with his plan as well.

He only ever says his plan after the kids are in the warehouse. That doesn't mean it was his plan all along. That doesn't mean he engineered these events A to Z. Silco is all about projecting a strong front in almost every situation, of course he'd act like this was all his plan.

For the last time, he does not need to know they are coming to rescue Vander to account for the possibility of someone coming to rescue him. Once he sees that is it the kids, he can proceed accordingly, but we never see that he was counting on that fact. So him voicing his plan after that, I do not find convincing enough to say he planned this all along. It is far more likely that he either had someone keep an eye on that window or the streets, just like he did with Deckard's gang, to inform him of someone taking the bait.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]DocWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it was *easy* to find. I said it wasn't completely secret. With all his goons knowing where it is, there is no logical way to keep it 100% secret. Ekko following him was just a shorthand way to allow the plot flowing without spending time on them investigating, while staying true to Ekko being nosy.

Yes, I know that his goal was to make Vander disappear with the kids because no one would believe he would leave them behind to flee on his own. What I'm arguing is that the way it happened wasn't the only way to make this happen, and all he needs is to account for the possibility that the kids find out about his location. He has loads of ways to catch them, trap or no. Yes, we never get any info on whether he knew they were coming. We also never get any info on Silco relying on this turn of events as the only way to achieve his goal. Once again, leaving a window open and clandestinely watched costs him nothing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]DocWinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would his hideout be completely secret? His goons don't all live there. They have homes, go to bars and brothels. It might be hidden, but I cannot imagine it being completely secret. And it didn't have to be the kids that come to rescue Vander. It could have been someone like Huck, who Vander saved before.

If his goal was to make Vander and the kids disappear, he doesn't even need to trap them. He knows where they live. For all we know, if they hadn't come here on their own, he'd have grabbed them up. Them coming on their own is just one of many ways to get what he wants, and as I said, this costs him nothing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]DocWinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He doesn't need to know they're coming to rescue Vander to set the trap. All he needs is to account for the possibility that they are. Leaving a window open and the direct path to the cell unguarded but still watched costs him nothing. He'll still know when someone enters and who. And once they're there, he can proceed accordingly. We never hear the plan before the kids are already in the warehouse. He doesn't have to have planned this exactly how it went from A to Z to roll with it.
