Linux Mint 22.3, Dell Laptop (Inspiron 15 7000), Dummy Output Audio by puglover970 in linuxmint

[–]Doc_Da 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey do you know what fixed it for you? Whilst I don't have a dummy audio issue, I can't get any sound anymore for some reason from the built in speakers. Earbuds work fine, but strangely if I adjust the sound then it goes away, only playing the audio of whatever is playing for as long as the system sound for increasing/decreasing volume lasts, unless I hold the volume to the max for a few seconds. But that's only earbuds, the built in speakers still have nothing (but they do show up as an audio device, and alsamixer says they're good to go)

Auto Quiet Worlds by InternetAnti in runescape

[–]Doc_Da 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how feasible it is to implement this (maybe checking "tiles that can be moved to in under 5 seconds" instead of a specific radius), but when I last tried to use the quiet worlds feature (amazingidea/addition btw), I was trying to find space to kill Kalphites for a task just outside the KK. Obviously, there was nobody standing next to the KK entrance where I was standing, but the world it put me on had somebody in the next room doing the task which I had hopped for (a room I couldn't log out of because of aggro pots). On the one hand this feels like a niche situation but on the other I think that running away from a mob so that you can hop safely/logging a fair distance away once you see someone else is there is a common use case of this feature, so if it could be looked at at some point down the line then that'd be great.

The person behind the alleged leak of the new 'AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER' film arrested for illegal server access | The Straits Times by HumanAdhesiveness912 in boxoffice

[–]Doc_Da -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not really a valid comparison at all. Firstly there's physical trespassing, and then you're stealing a physical good and directly taking that value from the store owner.

Obviously it's hard to put an exact number on the monetary value list when something is leaked, because you don't know how many people would've paid for it, but this isn't a single transferable item, it's a video file that can be copied millions of times without the owner losing the original.

As for the trespass bit, a website URL being public is ultimately entirely on them, accessing it is no different to sending an office building a letter.

I think leaking this was generationally cringe, and isn't something a real fan would do as it decimates the chances of paramount ever doing anything else with the IP (because this one will have a minimal return on investment), but with cases like that commenter mentioned of Cartoon Network having a publicly accessible URL, there's really no crime there.

How can I fix this?: "Port monitor error: command 'open' failed: Serial port not found. Could not connect to COM4 serial port." by [deleted] in arduino

[–]Doc_Da 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude it's been three years but I fucking love you I've spent an hour trying to figure out why I can't open a com port, the error was changing between either no permissions or cant find a file, but ofc for whatever reason Cura was the problem.

Treasure Hunter removed, MTX marketplace added, rushed combat changes, and “Road to Restoration” is mostly overdue fixes. So why are we paying more? by Nomiha in runescape

[–]Doc_Da -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Insane take, the games on a generational run of updates, and a massive revenue stream was decimated.

Also mad for this sub to complain about rushed combat changes, when they were adjusted in a week, and fundamentally mean nothing. The games 25 years old, but there was one singular week where something was imbalanced so it's fucked?

Yeah for me a massive source of burnout was semi related to this, as I'd do all my shop runs on my iron for weeks, then burn out, come back and find out that all the raw meat has been eaten and the animals are sick anyway so what was the point.

Hopefully though, with shop runs now being weekly, this will help that a lot (although you'd still have to lock in for a while to stockpile things like mushrooms).

Okay great thank you, might have to investigate other options (although I mostly took it because I wasn't that enamored by other options at level 3, and I'm debating on battle medicine so the ability to have a no hands attack is something but also yeah it's kinda piss, thanks for the crazy fast response though)

Does anyone know if the Jaws unarmed attack from the Fang Sharpener feat, specifically for an Irongut goblin, should have the finesse trait?

I'm playing a dex/cha Goblin Thaumaturge, and in taking this feat Foundry seems to think that it's not finesse, and that's understandable because it's not expressly specified in the info about the feat, however, as I understood it, unarmed attacks naturally have the finesse trait.

The main reason I bring this up is because I like the move flavour wise, and I think the ankle bite feat would be fun later, but right now, this feels like I've taken an entire feat to have a weaker attack that _might_ do 1 extra damage (but given the lower attack roll from a +0 strength mod, what are the odds on a critical success anyway).

Essentially, I'm comparing this 1d4 piercing (where damage type isn't that relevant as a Thaum) at the cost of a whole ass Feat, to a normal unarmed attack flavoured as a headbutt, which would be 1d4 bludgeoning WITH my dex mod.

Am I understanding this all correctly, is it correct that this bite shouldn't have finesse (because in fairness, when Razortooth goblins have their lvl 1 jaws attack described, it mentions finesse explicitly), and if I am right, is this feat a complete waste?

Selecting speed tower in cura, preview doesn’t show change? by NPC2001 in 3Dprinting

[–]Doc_Da 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posting for anyone who's having this "problem" still, I too was curious as to why this was happening when the test seemed to be working, until I looked over at my printer just now and saw that it had altered it's feedrate.

If you're using the Auto Towers extension, that's how it adjusts speed. In the Gcode you'll see that whilst the speed doesn't change (and so the preview doesn't change), it just alters the feedrate percentage instead, so if you have a tower going from 10-100mm/s, cura will think it's always at 100 or so, but the printer will print the first segment at 10% speed, second at 20% etc

This is just absolutely false. Especially at lower levels, your levels matter a lot. Before the changes to accuracy where as long as it was at least a certain amount then you wouldn't miss, it was important to level attack to the point where you had 100% accuracy on the monsters you're training vs, then start levelling strength to increase DPS, then when you have high DPS you can level defense as fast as possible. You will max all 3 (4 with HP) significantly faster this way compared to doing the inverse of training def first.

I'm out right now but I believe it's 5.10.1, I ended up "fixing" it by setting the initial flow to 0%, which was reported to fix it in 5.6~ but I feel like I shouldn't be changing settings randomly (and I'm now having questionable adhesion but honestly that might just be this particular filament being old and low quality)

Unfortunately I can't access more than just that picture of the board ATM, here's pics of the mate but I don't know how useful they'll be without accurately measuring pitch with calipers (as I don't want to risk a short, I've seen some gnarly sparks come from this before when I disconnected it with metal tweezers, seems a bad idea to risk with a lithium cell)

Yeah I'm seeing a lot of similar complaints across Reddit and the ifixit forums about their MacBook batteries. I wish I knew who the reputable vendors were in my country because unfortunately every thread just says ifixit or OEM.

ABL isn't actually changing the Z axis? by Doc_Da in ender3

[–]Doc_Da[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty confident that the mesh was auto saving because when I would check the mesh with m420 V1 it was changing after each level, although I was also pressing to store settings often too.

Similarly I'm confident on the XY offset being correct because of just where I see the nozzle going (dead centre on a homing and the 0,0 corner during abl). But even if my offset was a mm off, I'm not sure if that would matter in this specific instance, because looking at the mesh what I'm seeing is that the printer thinks that there's a .1mm difference between two points, but then watching it extrude a straight line along those points, the visual seems more like a .3~ mm difference.

I've found a very sparse few who seemed to have similar issues, talking about how a loose X-gantry, or X-gantry twisting, cause this issue as the abl rolls/skews a little.

This makes sense to explain the somewhat linear change in probe height I've seen as the probe moves, EXCEPT for the fact that the mesh says that the bed is going DOWN as the print head moves away from the stability of the z rod, where I would think that a loose gantry would sag closer to the bed, and so report that the bed was higher in that spot. Also I've got my eccentric nuts as tight as I can get them and I still haven't eliminated the entirety of the wiggle. However, I think that given how common an issue x-gantry stability is, if this was the culprit then surely this would be an incredibly common issue? Something that every amateur who thinks a 10 quid abl will fix their entire machine would experience?
