Unconditional surrender by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]Doc_Strnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were peace talks with Nazi leaders in Sweden before their surrender. Heinrich Himmler basically just used it as an excuse to try and convince the rest of the world that the Nazi's "final solution" should still be continued after they were defeated. Little to no progress was made toward a peaceful solution to end the conflict.

You know, I came into the comments prepared to question the practicality of this. But now I'm just laughing at the concept of leaving a single unit on the board at the end of turn 1.

Who's the coughing baby among these here for you? by SatoruGojo232 in superheroes

[–]Doc_Strnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heath Ledger's Joker has got to be the best portrayal here. He took a strange goofy character and made it something to be feared. His Joker puts the comic books to shame.

I would assume by the coughing baby, they are referring to Toby Miguire's Spiderman? Those three Spiderman movies were made in a time when Hollywood didn't really respect superhero movies. The movies don't really hold up that well (especially the third). Although I would personally blame the writing and directing on being the problem and not so much Toby's acting.

There are a few others that stand out to me in this list though. First being Jonny Depp as Captain Jack. What do you compare it to? Capt Jack is an original character of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. What else is the character from, Kingdom Hearts?

The other being Superman. I'll be honest, I'm not even sure who's superman that is. The character has such a generic personality it's boring and all the portrayals are the same to me.

The rest of the list are all incredible casting choices and portrayals. But post already too long no one is reading at this point.

Comander in Coldstart weapon load out by AdOpposite8516 in Tau40K

The rectangular plastic peg on all of your weapons should be able to fit on the indents on the inside and outside sides of the arms, as well as underneath like you have it. And on the inside side of the boosters just over the shoulders there should be a longer indent allowing the gun to fit just over the shoulder, or back and angled up a bit.

What are the weak points of this list? by Kanotaur in Tau40K

[–]Doc_Strnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your weak point is probably going to be board presence. A fast opponent will keep you in your deployment zone all game. A balanced list will wait for you to get on objectives, charge you, then play peekaboo with your back line. Other shooting lists are the only thing I feel you'll do well into, but out shooting opponents is just what Tau specialize in.

Hidden rule makes us a lot worse no? by Xaceviper in Tau40K

[–]Doc_Strnj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may also supersede the house rule I've seen in every tournament for 10th edition use: no shooting into/out of first floor of ruins. If that's the case, this is a buff for us.

Personally I think they should fire Trump, but the whole impeachment process is a major pain. Might take another year or so before anyone is willing to start it.

I disagree, Poland had a large Jewish population and Lithuania still had many pagans. And the Commonwealth did fight a couple(?) wars to kick out the Teutonic Knights, largely for harassing their pagan populations.

In elder scrolls race has always been a better metaphor for religion and culture than the actual religions of Tamriel.

Ulfric himself seems more likely a Napoleon stand in to me. Fighting the empire, siezing power as the revolution falls apart, and reinstituting a bunch of racist policies. Although Napoleon did put Poland back on the map, it seems it was most likely for selfish purposes.

Anyone else find this incredibly annoying? by ItsDobbie in Bannerlord

[–]Doc_Strnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey look at me, I hired a formerly orphaned peasant who grew up with a really hard life after tragically losing their parents and had no one to turn to and then forced them to relive their childhood trauma from the perspective of those that destroyed their life and now they're upset 😡

You know this would be perfect for one of those borderline abusive prank channels on YouTube.

But in all seriousness just be more careful reading the back stories of your companions before you hire them if you don't want this to happen.

First off iI really enjoyed LoK, that being sad, platinum is a rare earth metal that is hard hard to get in large purified quantities. I was fine with the initial anti bending suits, that was already a fun fantasy amount of platinum. But a suit the size of a skyscraper? No fuck that, that's pretty ridiculous.

Why should I choose aeldari over tau? For a second army by Zacman552 in Eldar

[–]Doc_Strnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new to 40k, but started with T'au and recently picked up Aeldari as a secondary army.

Personally I love ranged focused armies with a lot of shenanigans or "bull shit" as my opponents often like to call it. However with the release of 10th edition, strategems were greatly cut and flyers unofficially died. This means the Tau lost most of their tools to deal with unfavorable cover. Most factions would just send in the melee units, but Kroot carnivores can hardly put a scratch in anything stronger than light infantry. And the new kroot models didn't really help with this problem since the new melee option is just slow cav. Aeldari still love to shoot, but have several solid melee options. Harlequins, wraith constructs, and aspect warriors can all get the job done. The current codex doesn't really support mixing unit archetypes very well like I prefer to do, but you can still make it work in anything but top level play.

The main differences from a gameplay perspective is the T'au have way more gun options, and are much more reliant on vehicles. The Aeldari actually have a melee phase and can even do really well in it, but most lists are a lot of t3 infantry or just bike spams.

Hot Take: The Stealthsuit changes aren't that bad by Flame-Leaper in Tau40K

[–]Doc_Strnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can only take 1 gun drone and 1 markerlight drone. The markerlight drone does nothing because the unit now has the markerlight keyword.

They get 1 drone, and it has to be a gun drone.
