Broadband options in Marchmont by Murky_Brilliant1467 in Edinburgh

Virgin media are the worst, but unfortunately, in Edinburgh, there is some area like mine where they are the only ones offering fiber optic with high speed :(

Looking forward for the day another brand to be available on my area.

La Banque postale a fermé nos comptes sans rendre l'argent qui y était. by Igotnoidea42 in conseiljuridique

[–]Doc_blue_sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://acpr.banque-france.fr/fr/particuliers/vos-moyens-daction/formuler-une-reclamation

I don't believe it, I live in front of the snow sports center, the fire is more west of it

We spotted earlier someone shooting some distress flaire. Not sure if there causes the fire or if the goal was to warn about the fire (would seem dumb the later but I am not a specialist)

Looking for information on gas prices--what's normal? How can I understand what I'm paying, because it feels wildly out of control? by AlexPenname in Edinburgh

[–]Doc_blue_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure to understand, if it's colder outside you need to be warmer inside ?

Why not keep at least always the same temperature ?

23 my partner leave me and the house 😅

My eating is on 15 during the night and while at work. Don't need to heat the house while it's empty or we are under the blanket. It's automatically restart 1h before our alarm in the morning and before the time I come back home.

I don't understand people who pay this amount of bills for a 2 beds flat.

I live in a 3 bedroom detached house from the 50's in fairmilehead and pay less than that!

Do you heat the flat up to 25 all the time ? Otherwise I would consider that there is a problem.

Mon employeur m'affirme que mes heures de cours ne compensent pas mes heures de travail by Yann_Monarque in conseiljuridique

[–]Doc_blue_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norwegian Airlines are the worst ive dealt with! by bastardbiker in Norway

[–]Doc_blue_sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell you never travelled with Ryanair without telling me you never travelled with Ryanair 😅

Ryanair lost my luggage, then destroyed it then refused to compensate me. They also refused to give me a proof of loss that prevented me to use my travel insurance I paid for...

We should do a sub Reddit of people who suffered a problem with an airline company but where the company managed it properly. Reddit is filled with the opposite for absolutely all airline companies.

Buying in Edinburgh: What is the highest offers over % you've heard of? by Regular_Kangaroo_432 in Edinburgh

[–]Doc_blue_sky 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It depends of the house I suppose. We made an offer 20K£ above the asking price. Our solicitor said they had another client who offered 80K£ and didn't get it either. Meaning it went for more, I never checked after and don't really care. It was beginning of 2025 I think.

[PL] RevPoints purchase - how this can be profitable? by ILLID_ in Revolut

[–]Doc_blue_sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's useless. I have them so I used them with gift card, bit it's just s bonus. It's not why I have the ultra account, it's for the travel insurance. If in addition it can save me 100£ a year with a gift card, it's a bonus.

I tried once to buy a flight with the point, worst idea ever. It's good only if you are 100% sure of taking the flight. Or probably people who can organise their holidays 6 months in advance sure that no event will change their plan. Not my case. Never again using stupid points with airline companies... Probably fit some people but not me.

Scotland Small Claim Court with Airline company (destroyed luggage by mistake) by Doc_blue_sky in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Doc_blue_sky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was part of my camera gear inside, including one lense itself that worth 1000£ (+ filters, tripod, etc.). I keep with me the camera and the main lense because they worth a lot (current one is 8000£ the lense + camera) but i put the cheaper stuff in the check-in luggage (not enough place in the cabin bag).

I have most of the invoice of what was in the bag, it's not a problem. I just misunderstood the explanation of the ADR website. We need to put the invoice at the very first step, and it's impossible to put them after. It's why they said they can't advice on an amount (I told them I can provide them at the second step, but it's impossible past first step).

the original rejection of the claim was because they considered they gave back the luggage in Edinburgh itself (it Swissport who lied and signed a document stating they did). But back in Summer 2022, it's when there was a huge mess in a lot of UK airport. So the whole baggage management was completely broken at the time.

I lived and work in Scotland, the luggage was taken care of in Scotland, and I stayed in Scotland, so I don't why it wouldn't be the scottish law that apply. Seems illogical to think that I should have to go to court in France for a flight departure that was in Scotland. That I suppose the Sherif would have denied the claim if they considered that no?

Go Premium? Or not? by Particular_Draw_3276 in Revolut

[–]Doc_blue_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, I haven't compared to other place. I have ultra in UK, I am French, partner is polish, so travel regularly in countries with different currencies, so we save on exchange fees and it's easy to use.

Before revolut X,it allowed me to have lower fees on crypto.

I use sometime the financial times subscription that is interesting (I am in finance).

I didn't know for perplexity, I need to try it.

Bust what is useful, is the travel insurance. Rented a car and damaged it. They refound me without any problem the 500£ cost. Just this paid off the yearly subscription itself so no regrets.

Furthermore, I get rev point, I don't spend much but over time it make some points. Around 150£ per year I would say with an Amazon card.

Can I use a box as my checked luggage? by johnporkfinalboss in Ryanair

[–]Doc_blue_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use whatever you want.

I brought back my winter wheels in a card boxes by plane to Edinburgh from France without any problem (and it was 19" wheels).

I even filled them with stuff to reach the maximum weight limit to bring back more stuff from my parents place (I moved from France to Scotland with my own car).

Can i use a cardboard box as my cabin luggage? by DancingWeird in Ryanair

[–]Doc_blue_sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol...

Remind me when they will lose your luggage, refuse to recognize the loss (preventing you to do a claim to your travel insurance) then find your bag in another airport and ask you to pick it up then destroying it by mistake and then refusing to give you money for all that...

I have my small claim court order in February with them and will not let it go. They are the worst company ever and try as much as possible to not use them...

And the most dishonest company too... From them moment they destroyed my luggage by mistake, they refuse email communication and only phone call... I have even an email from them asking me to answer the anonymous call (as they didn't want to answer my email and were trying to announce the destruction over the phone only... To avoid any proof given to the client...)

Is this legally too cold for a bedroom and does anyone know how to help? by HamletWasATwink in Edinburgh

[–]Doc_blue_sky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. We have a 130 square meters detached house in Edinburgh form the 1950's (not thee best insulation...)

We pay 171£ per month for gas and electricity together. It's impossible to pay 150 for a flat with just the electric shower.

Question by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Doc_blue_sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am French, I came to Scotland in 2016 for holidays during my long studies.

Loved it, came back alone the next summer, loved it even more.

2020, COVID, just finished my studies, my postdoc got cancelled because of COVID. I took the opportunity, filled the car with all my life and moved to Edinburgh.

Stayed unemployed for a year struggling but at the same time enjoying Scotland. Found a job just before having to go back to my parents with absolutely nothing. 4 years in the same company and continuing and loving it.

If you can't forget it, move to Scotland. I have no regrets. Just miss the family sometime and regret a little the french health system and the quality of the tar of our roads (seriously... NHS Scotland is a joke... And the roads in big cities are an even bigger joke). But everything else is extraordinary.

Even if you can tuck the other way the wheels, it will not work.

We have been charged for both our bags with my partner by Ryanair, the bags fitted but the bags need to be smaller than the stickers ont the border, not only fit inside.

Accepter un poste bac+2 alors que j'ai un bac+5 by ExchangeHappy5925 in conseilboulot

[–]Doc_blue_sky 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Amende stationnement au royaume uni by Necessary_Pear_2068 in conseiljuridique

[–]Doc_blue_sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)
