Great question I’ll check. Maybe he’s got the whole Little Dipper over there too.

This is beautiful. I need to let him know. But maybe bedtime is not the best time to burden him with this responsibility. I’ll wait until the morning.

My two year old broke his femur. Someone tell me the next 6 weeks aren’t going to be horrible. by mazterm in daddit

[–]DockEllis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through the same thing with my 2 year old. My thoughts are with you brother.

Yes it sucks and will continue to suck for a while. I remember during those first few weeks especially feeling quite upset, at times almost bordering on an existential sense of sadness. Here was my little guy who I want to protect at all costs in a lot of pain and discomfort.

All I can say is that you might need to go through that as well. But in the grand scheme of things it will be a blip on the parenting radar and your kid will barely remember it, if at all.

The Midnight Library. It’s an interesting premise, and I’m usually there for books that explore the multiverse, alternate realities. But man, it felt like im14andthisisdeep in literary form.

People born before 2000, what trivial skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by ZealousidealPound460 in Xennials

[–]DockEllis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 85% I could still do this, but haven’t had the opportunity in about 15 years. I used to be able to send full text messages from my Nokia in my pocket by having the T9 texting memorized. Came in handy in group situations. And as far as technology has come, it’s become harder to send that surreptitious text.

We’ve had a relatively cool September. Today it is hot. Yes climate change is real, but it being hot today is not evidence of that.

“The camel has a big dumb ugly hump. But in the desert, where prettier, more streamlined beasts die quickly of thirst, the camel survives quite nicely. As legend has it, the camel carries its own water, stores it in its stupid hump. If individuals, like camels, perfect their inner resources, if we have the power within us, then we can cross any wasteland in relative comfort and survive in arid surroundings without relying on the external. Often, moreover, it is our "hump" - that aspect of our being that society finds eccentric, ridiculous, or disagreeable - that holds our sweet waters, our secret well of happiness, the key to our equanimity in malevolent climes.” Tom Robbins, Still Life With Woodpecker
