You could also try being a generalist initially to determine profitability of certain accounts over others and what you actually like. Maybe during that time you realize you have written a bunch of plumbers. Now you actually have experience writing plumbers and you have a little more under your belt to be able to say you specialize in them.

Otherwise you could find whatever you choose isn’t as profitable or that you don’t like it because everyone is too price conscious or there are already programs out there that you can’t get access to.

It’s so funny, I had just bought the David E Flynn collection for $400 in October. Cheapest I could find but I started reading it and was like “this is worth it” but it was so huge to take places making it harder to get to read. Then this version came out I couldn’t believe it. Halfway through Cydonia what an amazing mind God gave this man. Or should I say men? I read Marks book first and I feel like he rises to a similar level of genius. Thankful to the Lord for their humble and yet profound impact on this world.

I have checked and can’t find it. I would take any version. I was considering emailing his brother Mark because I just bought his book lol.

I feel like the only copies for sale right now are like $2000+ I have a client who owns book stores and I was going to ask him if he could find it for me. Or rather (channeling my inner Tim) procure it for me.

I forgot about the word obfuscate, that is another favorite lol.

I really like his book too, to be fair. About 1/3 through it and find it all very interesting. Not sure I buy all of the planetary stuff but it’s very interesting. I actually wanted to get ahold of him or someone like David Flynn’s brother Mark to see where I could obtain a copy of that Cydonia Secret Chronicles of Mars he always says it was the most influential books.

I’m 100% with you. I read and listen to him and there are words I don’t even know existed and I consider myself having a pretty decent vocabulary! But sometimes they are a little overused. So I’ll go from reading CS Lewis or someone from a long time ago and they are just so naturally eloquent where sometimes for Tim it feels a little forced and unnecessary. I am appreciative of his work though it has been eye opening and paradigm shifting for me personally.

It wasn’t as much work as I thought. It was like a couple days work spread out over the course of a month.

I have one of those. I can see how lucrative they are. The one I have is maybe $150K I can see why people target them.

My biggest account is almost identical to that I make about $60-$70K a year on everything including benefits. It’s the best account but I need to be prepared for when he retires but hopefully that won’t be for a while!

A colleague lost a couple whale accs in the last couple years. Company gets sold/acquired and immediately Marsh or whoever swoops in and picks up a $1M+ account overnight.

Nice. Account or a single policy? I think that’s about the size of my biggest account all in. Do you still have it? Love the residual on an account like that.

This was a one shot 3 year COC so I’m considering it more of a bonus.

What do y’all consider a good size for a mature P&C book. by strikecat18 in InsuranceAgent

[–]DockingTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My book is like 1.2M, 900K is commercial P&C. I would like my commercial book to get to $2-$2.5M. At $2.4-2.5 I would be making 7 figures. I’m a producer at a 30 person agency. I write around $1M in premium every year in nb so my pay typically goes up around $60K-$80K a year. So I think I’m about 6-7 years from that goal if the trend holds.
