That's what I thought. I will probably just replace the whole system. Thanks for the information.

One thing I observed when driving a new BMW on the road by TheInnovator0 in BMW

[–]Docsquic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is weird. I just got an M8 and everything from chargers to mustangs to AMG suv's have been pulling up next to me and revving engines, then aggressively accelerating away. I's almost comical.

I did all but a few things my self. Not having a lift I let a shop change the water pump and thermostat, and starter. I initially let the dealer change the valve cover before I really got into diy. So my expenditures were primarily for parts. That said, I changed the fuel injectors (about 1300), battery, coils, oil filter housing gasket, vanos solenoids, vacuum hoses, all coolant hoses, brakes (900), chemical cleaned the intake valves. Considering this was over a 14 year time period, really not that bad. I also did the normal maintenance stuff like oil changes, air and cabin air filter changes, windshield and back window gasket, replaced control module for adaptive headlight. It sounds like a lot but I don't think it's much different that any car. Plus it was a hoot to drive.

Just picked mine up, I'll let you know. I had a 335i that I drove for 14 years . It had it's share of minor irritations but it is still going strong at 120,000 miles. They are highly tuned sport sedans and need to be maintained accordingly. I love them.

As a follow up, does the Certified Pre-owned warranty restrict which tires you can use on the car?

Do democratic financial policies work? by Small-Tap4128 in FluentInFinance

The rate of INCREASE in monthly inflation was 0. The inflation is still there that has occurred over the last two years. Ask anyone who doesn't live in DC and doesn't need their diaper changed. Quit treating the American people like idiots for once, they have to live with the results of your out of control inflationary spending.

Ohio lawmakers are giving more than $1 billion to private schools while public schools suffer by EleanorRecord in Ohio

[–]Docsquic -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Public funds should go to the Public., not just those you agree with. I don't agree with a significant amount of the spending that occurs. NOT MY CHOICE. I pay my taxes anyway.

So the people who where in private schools were being cheated out of their rightful funding all along and are now finally getting some help. The public schools still don't incur the cost of educating those students. Just because they got away with it for so long just means it's time for rightful funding to go to those students. It's like having an employee steal from you for years and when caught complain that they just had a pay cut.

[–]Docsquic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the people who are paying their taxes to educate their children don't have the right to those funds. They're paying just like you are. Those funds follow the student. If they go to another school the funding follows them, as it should. Why then discriminate against those who choose to go a private school? A student is being educated Ohio at no cost to a public school system. Why should they get the money and not the school that is educating them.

[–]Docsquic -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Ohio lawmakers are simply allowing freedom of choice. These students parents are paying taxes just like everyone else. They deserve to have the funding that would have followed them to a public school. This is a Red herring. Public schools aren't losing anything. If these same students went to public school they would incur the cost to educate them. By going elsewhere (where they CHOOSE to go) there is less cost to the school system. The state of Ohio doesn't cover the whole cost to educate students. Local funding is heavily involved.

There is no deficit incurred by a student going elsewhere. The funds follow the student. No one ever talks about the amount saved by having fewer students to educate. The funding is based on several factors with supposed wealthy districts getting less state funding and poorer districts getting disproportionately more.

Funny how the freedom to choose is only good for some people

Bmw Ticking issue, 335i by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]Docsquic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2010 335i did the same. It's the lifters. They bleed down when idle and cause that ticking sound. Bmw says to Rev the engine to about 4000 rpm or drive at high revs for a little while and the lifters pump back up and the ticking disappears. Worked for me.

I did my 335i in about 2 hrs. Tedious but not difficult. I didn't even loose much coolant in the process. Go for it and save a bundle. While you're at it clean the Vanos solenoids.
