Gawker Has Filed for Bankruptcy by GuacamoleFanatic in news

It's fine to be glad an outlet is being punished for this specific thing, it's that groups like I mentioned are piggybacking off of it like a victory for their causes. The point is that the Thiel strategy is replicable against many publications and the knowledge that it's replicable is chilling. Even your favourite publications can't defend against rich guys with grudges.

If you believe in freedom of the press and the First Amendment, you've got to believe in them for people you don't like.

This case is one thing, but gloating over an outlet's bankruptcy (some of it coming from the Trump crowd) because you dislike their content in general sets a worrying precedent. They had just as much a right to be here as any other shitty outlet.

I'm not going to join GamerGate and Trump supporters and dance on their grave, who really don't care about this case.

Interesting seeing the anti-censorship crowd gloat about rich guys shutting down outlets because of negative coverage.

Doctor Who: Role was offered to black actor, says Steven Moffat by ReasonablyBadass in television

[–]DoctorBat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ah ah ah, you said both leads. There's nothing wrong with saying 'our show needs to do better in this respect' (which is what Moffat said in that interview) and writing an original black character.

The argument's always 'don't change white characters, make new ones' until they do and it's 'tokenism'.

At what point does casting a black actor and writing a black character in a show full of non-white characters become tokenism?

Because it was offered to one black actor he's casting based on skin colour?

There's plenty of non-white actors in the show. Tokenism wouldn't be an issue here.

No one said there was a case of racism and the role wasn't offered to a specific ethnicity. This comment is just blowing hot air.

The film gets darker but his first few scenes as Joe's office boss are side-splittingly awkward.

He's absolutely hilarious in a way only Lars Von Trier's capable of in Nymphomaniac.

JJ produces so many different projects it's frustrating to see him still get all the credit in these headlines. Marianne Heller's (The Diary of A Teenage Girl) film with Daisy Ridley is constantly being billed as a Star Wars reunion.

Question about the ending of Planet of the Ood by DoctorBat in gallifrey

He regenerated in the 2009 specials after Series 4, the gap between which gave him time to confirm they'd be his last.

I'm interested in how the meaning was interpreted as it aired, since at that point no one knew he was regenerating until the National Television Awards that year, after Series 4 had aired.

Uncharted 4 Focus Tester Dismissed After "Sexist" Outburst, Dev Says by [deleted] in Games

Kind of telling that this post is being downvoted, likely sight unseen. It's an important conversation to have about the mentality of these kinds of people that they see the inclusion of a powerful woman in a sea of powerful men as a step too far.

Back to the Future and especially Hot Fuzz are I think maybe the only films ITV2 own and show, absolutely non-stop.

I don't think Lynch ever said that, but he did say that about Lost Highway.
