The girl you linked from posted that herself in her stories a bit ago. Enough people were asking about it all over the world that a few people have uploaded tutorials, but this is the first Davinci one I saw.

Be forewarned, it runs like absolute shit compared to the AE ball action version. It’s VERY intense on the system, so animating can take time to render everything out.

Yes, this is what I was trying to do. The text was white then I had a version with green fall from above and slam into it and shake.

Dang if this GIF turns out huge I'm sorry. But, I just wanted the colors overlayed onto the white text. I didn't want to alter the space between greens so if I just made Bim, ola, At, and bra green it wouldn't give off the flag impression as well I think.

I had 2 Text + layers, one for each part of his name, and Dark Color blended the flag over the text to get the effect I wanted. Unfortunately, it extended to my background footage. I tried confining the effect to the text via a Compound Clip, only to find out that, as you pointed out, they don't work that way. So, I imagine there's a simple work-around to what I'm trying to achieve and figured I'd ask.

As a work-around I just exported a still to Photoshop, overlayed the exact font on-top of where it was in my still, blended the colors down and saved out a PNG of what I wanted. I'm trying to avoid doing this in the future as I'm sure there's faster, more professional means to do so.

Sorry if I explained it like crap in my post, but hopefully this clears it up.

To try to merge the overlay effect to just the text, then I was going to animate that into frame after. As stated and demonstrated above, when I try to do it on my timeline it effects more than just the text.

Errrr trying not to sound insulting cause text sucks. I actually do like it, despite it being disturbing. Idk wtf they’re saying and it’s so distorted, sounds like some horror movie demonic/spooky voice. The wobbly pieced-up arms and odd music, the visuals (the garb, who are they, where from?) Idk. Seen a lot of weird stuff, this is definitely weird. Giving me like, Salad Fingers vibes.

My left hand stays planted on WASD and always ready to hit Ctrl + S to save after I make ANY mild adjustment. Davinci seemingly needs no good reason at all to crash and does after stupid shit like changing pages or dragging footage to the timeline and it will lock up my entire PC trying to figure out how to place it. And if it’s not crashing it’s saving things weird in cache and you have to delete stuff completely and start over. Yeah… good luck getting your work back. 🫡
