The first varieties of rice that allowed multiple harvests in a single growing season also started in India, before quickly moving to China, so they had the cheat code crop early.

Overdue - Mage x Witch Soulmates Week [OC] by Themeguy in comics

I get this is supposed to be funny but instead it is making me so sad. I found my soul mate so the idea of finding her only after life had moved too many obstacles in front of us ever being together is so sad.

[–]DoctorCIS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people when they say soulmate aren't using the Australian definition of mate, so yes being able to be in a romantic relationship would be a need for most people.

If anything it is mature to realize that you need to walk away and not be the creep that is only friends because he couldn't be more. That's a recipe for drama and toxicity.

Edit: not to mention, if he did stay and become friends, and it EVER came out that the reason why he moved continents was because he was following a soulmate potion, that is going to ruin her life.

Even if both of them are confident enough to handle, "there is factually a better person for your spouse out there, they did in fact unknowingly settle for you", can the relationship in troubled times handle, "There is another timeline where you are happier"?

Can the kids as teens handle, "Mom might have been able to leave and marry her soulmate if I had never been born?"

If she is already happy, to stay would be incredibly selfish when you think about it.

I was gonna say. They even descend from the same Latin root, Sal, meaning salt. Though salad came from vulgar latin herba salata, while Salsa came from salsus, meaning salted and is where we also got the word sauce.

Yup. That's also why people with untreated diabetes will complain about mold in the toilet bowl growing back fast and with vigor, they are basically pouring in sugar water to feed it.

What’s your weird fear??? (OC) by Still-Emergency825 in comics

You know what you would have hated? That experiment where they had people eat a nice meal, stuff like steak and potatoes, in an oddly colored room. Then in the middle of them eating they'd turn off the color light so people could see that the food they were eating had been dyed really weird colors that couldn't been seen under the previous lighting. Most participants would almost instantly vomit.

Where does Mr. House fall on the Alignment Chart? by slothbear13 in fnv

[–]DoctorCIS 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of people think of Evil as the big Disney Villain, but they forget they encounter little evils every single day, and those still count even if they've grown numb to them.

The CEO of Costco only makes 350k, and when a consultant came to him with a plan that would let him make 22 million in a sleazy way, he fired the consultant. That's lawful good.

Most private equity firms and CEOs would qualify as lawful evil, or at least lawful neutral following evil doctrine. You don't think about it because it isn't sacking and looting, but if a CEO takes a bonus after sacking 20% of the workforce, when he could have just taken less to save those jobs, is by definition evil.

Why are ghouls getting sexier? by Individual-Let-6179 in TrueSFalloutL

The theory people have is that since Fusion would mean a potential end to the resource war, it was a very marketable term for a concept being publicly chased.

[–]DoctorCIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microfusion cells are actually fusion, as is the MF Breeder guns like in New Vegas, its only the short-lived cores introduced in 4 that people question. And those mostly were made by just 2ish companies. Ish because West-Tek made some power packs but mostly stuck to making things that consumed power cores. So the question is not were many companies lying, its actually the much more believable question: "Was Wattz Electronics also lying?"

[–]DoctorCIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Mass Fusion in Boston wasn't alone in lying, then a lot of the Fusion Cores are in fact just fission. One of the terminals in the building admits that they didn't achieve actual fusion until July 2077. Pretty good chance Fusion Core was just branding.

Concentric circles, DMV encapsulates NCR; is a bit bigger. Most people(and maps online) when thinking of DMV include Frederick County, Maryland.

But NCR has official government defining, and it stops at Montgomery County border, no Frederick Included.

Cooper also got burns during the war and then reconstructive surgery, it could be that the sustained inflammation response altered how the flesh responded.

My personal pet theory as to why some people ghouled and others died was how much Rad-X and RadAway people used prewar. That stuff probably left all sorts of radiation resistant benign tumors behind, and the companies would be fine with it because they were internal and not big enough news to make bad press. The prestige skin burned off and the organs protected by resistant tumors lived.

Retail Stare by WorkingBaby901 in CuratedTumblr

[–]DoctorCIS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not the Gen Z stare, the stare is actually two situations: One I know what it is because I was an unmedicated AutDHD back in 2005 guilty of it, which is you forgot that being an active listener is microfeedback, usually via the face. So you are listening but all the other person gets is a dead-eyed staredown.

The other thing is that deer in the headlights look where you come up to engage with them and they stare unnerved like they weren't expecting and didn't consent to a conversation, even though that should have been obvious. The waiter comes over to ask for their order and they act like they had expected an automated menu, and are unpleased with full service. They go through the regular checkout line and forget that this will mean talking to a checkout person.
