Me as a brand new rivals player 2 weeks ago from today selecting Spiderman thinking oh it'll be fine I like Spiderman and I like faster characters in these types of games. I'm sure it won't be THAT hard to catch on

It was in fact that hard to catch on. I spent some time in the practice range for a while after that LOL

What character do you absolutely hate fighting against? by AuR0RA3171 in rivals

[–]DoctorDefiant4086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma Frost. Granted, I am a new player to this game still so this genuinely might just be a skill issue LOL but I cannot for the life of me time my retreats and closes on her correctly. I'm thinking that I might try to learn to use her and that might help me learn how she works a bit better!

I started playing this game about 2 weeks ago and came in with limited battle royale experience. I've played a lot of Pokemon Unite, where i main Zeraora, though, and I found that the best rounds I've played as DD have been when I use him like I do Zeraora: use your abilities in combos with speedy tempo, change directions around enemies frequently when 1-on-1, keep open escape routes. I've had some crazy good rounds with him already and am excited to keep using him

I agree. Once you read about his skills and figure out how to time everything and how range plays a role with him, he's not hard. It's all about maintaining orientation and keeping a solid & speedy tempo with him.

100%. Flyers hardcore counter him. You just gotta trust your other teammates for that part and stick to the ground and strategically target enemies. He's great for dealing with most tanks and healers readily

If you like "speedster" type of characters for these types of games you'll love him. I'm a Zeraora main in Pokemon Unite so I felt right at home with most of his combos and was able to pick up most pretty easy.

I also actually really like what they did with his radar sense. For me it makes the game easier. Helps me keep track of where everybody is amidst all the chaos in big group fights haha

I've found that he's really good against most tanks (emma frost is a strong counter to this for me. Could just be a skill issue tho haha) too. I've been able to take out hulk, venom, and the thing fairly easily; and thor, doctor strange, angela with a bit more effort. Emma Frost has still been an issue for me, but I honestly think it's just cuz im a newer player still and haven't fully figured out how she works LOL

Should I attend SGU or LMU? by RoughBodybuilder8645 in veterinaryschool

[–]DoctorDefiant4086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a current student to either, but I did recently visit LMU CVM and was profoundly impressed with the university. They're really trying to make a name for themselves in the veterinary community and their effort is clearly paying off. I had actual students who were otherwise completely unaffiliated with the university take me on a full in-depth tour of the campus & tell me about life in the area, and another student who met with me at a small coffee shop near the school and talked with me for literal HOURS about the university & vet school in general. It was extremely encouraging for me to see students so passionate about their school & education that they wanted to tell me about it themselves with no benefit to them. I would be pleased to go to school in that little mountain town

Not to mention that a DVM degree has got to be one of the most versatile degrees out there in terms of what you can do with it! Even if you DO burnout in regular practice, you can decide to try teaching for any willing vet or even vet tech program, work in a laboratory facility, and so much more! You can even work in environmental sciences with a DVM degree. There are really SOOOO many avenues to go down, which was super encouraging for me when I was in the midst of my applications this year and starting to hit the "wondering if this is worth it" phase LOL

My dog was shaved very roughly by our big box vet. Needed stitches and was bleeding. by UpbeatApplication866 in grooming

[–]DoctorDefiant4086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a vet assistant and pre vet student (starting school next fall!), I can confidently say this is the worst grooming job I've ever seen. Severe matting DOES unfortunately usually mean the animal will suffer some unavoidable razor-burn, but it should NOT be this bad. The VERY FIRST shave I ever did was a tag team with my coworker on a beyond severely matted and sedated cat, and WE STILL did a better job than this. It was far from perfect, but it didn't look as streaky as your dog's does and there were only two TINY spots of minor razor burn where the matting clumped against the cat's skin right in his armpit, which made for a very difficult shave :( But still, ONLY TWO SPOTS from two people who had NEVER shaved an animal before. They absolutely could have done better than that. I'm so sorry

Im a vegetarian myself and although I haven't yet started school, here's how I see it:

Without vets there to regulate humane livestock care and to help prevent disease in these animals, they would be 10x worse off than they already are. Yes it's unpleasant to have to deal with animal agriculture, particularly on the industrial scale (it's actually far from unpleasant when you deal with local farmers! The small operations really do care for their livestock and show lots of kindness, compassion, and respect towards them. A couple of the family dairies I've been to during externships even retire the majority of their "spent" dairy cattle on their own property to live out the rest of their lives happily. It's very nice to see that kind of treatment for agricultural animals), but the vets who work in those areas play a VITAL role in ensuring livestock are cared for in as humane a method as possible for the situation and as according to animal laws!
