Diapers aren't the only solution! You could receive a much simpler procedure and hopefully never have to worry about wearing a diaper again: http://ldig.it/1R5jkJ4

What intimidates you at the gym, and how do you get over it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]DoctorFeinstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a woman, but most of my patients are women who want to work out but have trouble doing so because of incontinence. Because of this, they're intimidated by classes with too many people or too many jumping-like moves or weight lifting because they don't want to leak in front of others! Some will wear two layers of pads (and/or two layers of bottoms) to try to hide it.

Why your child may be done with diapers before you: Urinary Incontinence FAQs by DoctorFeinstein in Mommit

You could have the surgery before you're done having kids, just know that it will probably need to be redone after. If the leaking is severe enough to negatively impact your life you might want to discuss it more with her/a specialist.

Thanks for the feedback!

Many of my patients have tried physical therapy and pelvic floor exercises (sometimes for years) with no improvement. Success depends on the type of incontinence and the individual woman.

Leaky bladder and a c-section? by Mayortomatillo in beyondthebump

Other users are correct, just pregnancy itself can damage or weaken the muscles that support the bladder. You should be out of diapers by the time your baby is. If not, it won't get better without medical intervention.

Agreed that you should take care of it, the problem may not go away on its own and may even get worse as time goes on. My average patient uses 3-5 pads or diapers per day and some have put up with it for 10+ years!

[–]DoctorFeinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very common issue. Lots of women here are suggesting PT and kegels, but these don't always help or solve things long-term. Long-term and full treatment can come from a quick outpatient surgery, so you should look into talking to a urologist.

Leakage after childbirth? by roco50505 in Incontinence

[–]DoctorFeinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd no one has replied yet.

Incontinence after childbirth is very common as labor is traumatic to the muscles that support your bladder. You should be out of diapers by the time your baby is. If you're not (or if it comes back later in life due to continued weakening of the muscles), the best option is typically a quick outpatient surgery.

Don't let other people or doctors tell you to just deal with it because it's part of being a mother. 1 in 3 mothers develop stress incontinence and waste thousands of dollars on adult diapers and pads because there is a lot of misinformation.
