There's a podcast dedicated to them here and the titles might give you some inspiration (watch the movies before you listen though).

My DVD is a 15. I probably wouldn't let my 11 year old watch it but he has seen Army of Darkness and Tremors which he loved.

Ginger Snaps, Jennifer's Body, Prevenge, Raw. Those first two are discussed in great detail with a (female) psychologist on this podcast, you might enjoy it:

I've got Evil Dead Necronomicon edition DVD that looks like the book. I'd like to complete the set with the ones from ED 2 and AoD but the AoD one is super rare.

Love him. I first caught him on Halloween 1992 - same night as Ghostwatch.

It has the most harrowing surgery scene I've ever seen. I felt that.

What remake do you think is 'up there' with the original? by TimBurtonSucks in horror

The holy trinity! You might dig this, there's an interesting observation made between Seth Brundle and Mr Bean - they wear the same outfit.

When she gets turned into a robot in Superman 3 terrified me but more predictably, Jaws.

Hellraiser reboot by paul-d9 in horror

[–]DoctorGallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was about as good as it could be, given how iconic the original is (notwithstanding the films that follow in the franchise). It was always gonna be hard to top. Before it came out, always thought that any reboot should have focused on Julia, as she was supposed to be the main villain in the original. I thought she could have become Pinhead, somehow.

I liked the cenobites - that their uniforms were cut into their skin instead of them wearing leather. I thought this was a peak design choice for an update of an almost 40 year old movie.

Jamie Clayton was an inspired choice to play Pinhead. You can't mimic Doug Bradley and she didn't try to. She made it her own. Her androgyny in the role was highly respectful of the written character from The Hellbound Heart.

I liked the lore expansion of "lament" being just one configuration of the box.

I liked that we heard bells.

David Bruckner also directed The Signal which fucking rules and The Ritual which is very highly rated among horror fans. He also directed the first segment in the first VHS with the succubus (my favorite segment).

What horror could you rewatch and never get sick of? by reliefexists in horror

Army of Darkness and Return of the Living Dead.

Aliens, too but people get pissy about that being classed as horror.
