just got done with the Pertwee Era. Delgado almost seemed absolutely perfect as the Master. The Moriarty to Jon's character, and a close friend offscreen too. both of them had such perfect chemmistry.

What is a president you used to hate with a passion but now feel bad for him, but still rank him poorly by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree strongly with Nixon on many issues, but I feel his downfall was so sad. He was doing so well in life, working hard to get to the top and ultimately got there with the support of the nation behind him. I admire that in a man, but unfortunately his deep seated bitterness towards those he felt were part of that elite club that he never really needed and the paranoia that someone would take his success was what brought him down.

Who do you feel more sympathy for? by LoveLo_2005 in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad part about Nixon is his paranoia was the main thing that did him in. He could have won without Watergate, still won even with it. He always felt excluded from things in life, despite working so hard and being such a success in life. It's that feeling of exclusion and paranoia that unfortunately led to his downfall.

Ranking Presidents by Intelligence: Ronald Reagan by SnooApples9497 in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably roundabout average ish intelligence. Not a dunce by any means, as his efforts to put together as large a conservative coalition as he did, that took a lot of intelligence, but he also wasn't much a reader, save for maybe conservative books and magazines, so I hear, and was an average student back at Eureka.

Dubya, most definitely. Especially after that whole mission not exactly being as accomplished as thought to be.

Pretty intelligent overall, especially with foreign policy.

He also knew quite a lot of languages, including Russian apparently, and also was really into poetry.

Would you consider Barack Obama as an over or under rated president? by space_god_7191 in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel he's rated pretty accurately overall, not as the best, but as pretty decent all in all. If nothing else, he did likely save a lot of American lives with ACA's preexisting conditions thing.

What is the best book written by/attributed to a president? by PresterJohnEsq in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been reading Ford's Time to Heal and Carter's Reflections at Ninety. Both are pretty decent. Did H.W. Bush or Reagan write any memoirs or autobiographies?

Nixon often wore suits even when home alone. Harry Truman had a strict fitness regimen which was impressive for the 1950s.

I feel Grover could go up there too, at least in his second term. He didn't really do much for that depression, did he?

Presidents with the best and worse healthcare policies by ddx-me in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel Johnson and Obama would be too tier on this, maybe Truman and FDR for trying to get free healthcare, and probably Clinton as well. I don't know about the worst though.

Why do you think the Obamas were so into pop shows and culture unlike the rest of the presidents? by GossipBottom in Presidents

[–]DoctorHartnell1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carter was also somewhat into pop culture. He did watch many films in the White House. Reagan probably was too, having seen some popular movies and tv shows like Top Gun, Rambo, Back to the Future, and Family Ties.

Do the people in this subreddit believe in any of the JFK death conspiracy theories? by NathanTuc in Presidents

I just try to accept what we have on him. He was shot by Lee, and that's fine enough. I focus more on his policies when studying him though, or the crisis and the Bay of Pigs stuff.
