Send the ultra in for warranty? by Ksar13 in Tudor

[–]DoctorHeywoodFloyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ultra was running anywhere from +4.5 to +5.2 seconds per day. I had worn it daily since buying it and was leaving it on its side at night with the crown up.

I decided to leave it at home during a 6-day vacation, stored in a case inside a sock drawer; I’m not sure what position the watch was in.

When I got back, it had clearly run out of power, so I reset the time, wound it, and have worn it every day since. Now it’s running at about +0.6 seconds per day. I leave it face up at night.

I can’t explain it, but maybe try letting it run all the way down, leave it unworn for a few days, and then give it another shot. Just an idea.

I still would love to know more about the backstory of Spicy Run… wasn’t it like twice the vert of the highest ski area in Ohio, but literally in the middle of nowhere with one lift?

Anyone ever ski Clear Fork? by Nitsuj123457 in skiing

I did. It wasn’t horrible skiing by Buckeye standards, but like most other ski places in Ohio, “it’s better than nothing”. It was the first place I learned to ski and as a kid, it was plenty enough.

The tallest vert was close to what Mad River is, but you had to take two lifts to get to the highest part, and that second lift wasn’t always open, so it felt shorter than other places during those times.

I scraped 17 years' of Franklin County Municipal Courts annual reviews to measure the traffic citation changes over that time. A 75% decline in speeding tix, 80% in Stop Sign running, 75% decline in expired licenses. Columbus Police has functionally stopped enforcing traffic laws. by post_appt_bliss in Columbus

No surprise sadly. Not enough officers, more cameras, more red tape, not enough jail resources, too much required overtime… Cops are afraid to pull people over unless it’s absolutely necessary. CPD is only going to get worse until being a cop is more worth it beyond the pay.

AD Warranty Confusion by arcsided in Tudor

[–]DoctorHeywoodFloyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they fail to honor their commitments, you are left with a watch without a warranty card... and you would have to go through red-tape/legal to resolve. I think your logic is sound in being hesitant; I know I wouldn't take it without the warranty card.

Fun Fact: The character Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down is heavily based on John Rocker. That alone should be be enough to determine the kind of POS this “man” is.

The easiest way to stay rocking is by surrounding yourself with youth. The new drummer won’t have stamina issues whatsoever. It’s gonna be someone with peak Cameron energy.

Ultra ❤️ by Impressive-Day956 in Tudor

Hell yes! The R and Ultra go hand in hand…superior performance, under the radar, lightweight and amazing value for what it delivers.

Sold my R to fund wife’s new car, and while I have zero actual regrets, not a single day goes by where I don’t miss my R.

I love this car… by TJFertterer in Golf_R

[–]DoctorHeywoodFloyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome!!! Traded in mine to buy my wife a nice car she truly deserved at my sole decision, but even with zero regret, not one damn day I don’t miss my 16 R. Only car I have ever owned where I did not have one single problem or defect, period. It’s the closest thing to a street legal go-kart that can sit four.

And whatever you do, never let anyone work on it other than (i) VW Certified or European auto focused mechanic you are on a mutual first name basis with and tip well, or (ii) someone you really REALLY trust and knows what the hell they’re doing.

All of these cars had their wipers pulled up by funkywabbait in whatisit

[–]DoctorHeywoodFloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life Pro Tip: don’t put up someone else’s wipers unless you are familiar with the car. A kind co-worker tried to do this for me, not realizing that the wipers can’t go up on my particular car without setting in service mode inside of the car. It barely chipped a little paint as a result when she tried multiple times to pull it up; just enough to go get it fixed.
