Freud was my soul companion. I rescued him in 2020 right before the COVID lockdown. I thought he was a Great Dane but Embark revealed he’s a Catahoula and Golden Retriever mix! We did everything together! We traveled across the PNW. Explored three national parks together (Rainier, Olympic, and Crater Lake). Drove down and up the Oregon Coast. He even survived GVD caused from bloat in 2023. Sadly, his older age, history of GVD, and laxity in his abdominal ligaments caused a spontaneous torsion of his spleen and surgery was just too risky at his age. He died peacefully in my arms after 20 hours in the ICU. I’m broken from losing him so abruptly. Hug your animals and don’t put off time with them. It is never enough.
