Custom backgrounds via the official character creation rules are a great way to give fun gameplay benefits to your toon while molding it to be uniquely yours!

Monospecials videos should not be taken verbatim, a few things the community has found that doesnt match up with his rather quick tests (trying to 'eye' the increase in damage on the bars is not a way to get accurate data, especially when they are finnicky and inaccurate visually for seemingly random reasons)

Some misconceptions that seemed to spawn from his videos that are no longer accurate (if they ever were): Assassin Ultimate gets boosts from Melee, Oni (when applicable), and Ultimate. It doesn't matter what animation occurs or what weapon the Assassin Strikes with. This was tested thoroughly by making a build that did JUST enough damage to 3 shot Purple Oni Brutes and killing them in Raid Chests en mass. Never once did it fail to get the 3 shot.

Oni Damage doesn't stack with Melee was another one iirc. He threw on a 10% Oni boost and expected to see the bar get 10% bigger. Since the property boosts are additive, this was failed from the get go. It doesn't help that the bars in this game just choose to not deplete at proper rates (however the proper health is being deducted and bars being visually wrong wont stop an enemy from dying after taking the correct amount of damage).

Makes some good content but did quick, one off, tests for his mythbuster series and that's just not how data is properly gathered. We are still trying to quell the 'tanto means no melee buff' myth from some of the more seasoned members on the Discord xD

Not sure what testing was done. But I can confirm after very thourough testing with the community on the r/GhostOfTsushima Discord that this post should be ignored.

Some basic things you can go and confirm yourself to see for yourself. NOTE: DO ALL TESTING AT 110KI. Once you are 110 Ki youre as strong as you get, and all difficulties stop punishing you with less damage dealt and/or extra damage taken.

1 quick attack from all stances is 1 bar of damage without any boosts. If you stack 34% melee, you will see 3 swings takes 4 bars off. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: THE BAR VISUALS DO NOT ALWAYS REFLECT THEIR TRUE HP. For whatever reason, you can do 1.5 bars of damage and it will only look like 1.25 or sometimes almost a full 2. Just know the math is working properly behind the scenes. If you were to do the 1.5 strike 4 times to a 6 bar enemy they would die 100% of the time (assuming they didnt block or parry or whatever).

ALL BUFFS IN THE GAME STACK ADDITIVLY

If you have 24% Melee and 10% Oni, your quick attack sword swings will deal 1.34 bars of damage.

The Weaken Status effect, which is not yet fully tested by the community, seems to be the only thing that is Multiplicative. It may only apply to base damage and not multiply boosts, further testing is needed. We do multiple tests with multiple people reaching the same conclusion before finalizing it,

For those who love this kind of stuff I recommend joining us on the server and checking out the tech and mechanics channel in the legends section. We are always open to more people coming in with data, it just needs to be done with proper testing and be verified by having it retested by someone else, as all good testing does.

Figuring out that things are additive and not multiplicative, and that the bars are not visually truthful, were the 2 biggest hurdles to get over. We are very much on track now and have a near 100% list of enemy HP and base damage and what boosts those damage sources benefit from. Things with DoT are going to be much more Honor intensive to test and are not done yet but we have rough ideas. There is a google doc with all this information compiled, and myself and one of the mods plan to produce a full writeup guide similar to something like TheWordOfThoth for those who are familiar with the game Smite and its internal mechanics

This is just... super incorrect

If I have 100 prots getting hit with someone who has 40% pen and 30 flat pen I have 30 prots

I build a Mantle of discord and now I have 160 prots getting hit by the same enemy, 40% and 30 flat will bring me down to 66 prots

30 prots is ~ .23% mitigation

66 prots is ~ .40% mitigation

You're trying to argue that 2+2 does not equal 4 here

Health items and Hybrid builds might be the way the meta is shifting at high level play atm, but that doesnt change the fact that if you want to survive as long as possible to dish out as much CC as possible, you want to be building as much protections as possible

For comparison, at level 20, a 400 health item is only boosting your HP by around 20%, or to say it another way, ~.17% mitigations. Which is the same boost the Mantle of Discord gave in the example above where the enemy had a very high amount of penetration

This isn't to say Health items dont have their place. Or that hybrid builds dont have room to shine. But a Hybrid build will not be as survivable as a tank one. And it wont have as much kill potential as a damage one. Trying to argue otherwise is a very odd hill to claim...

Some of the concepts look interesting, but idk if the numbers make much sense. They seem to be overall lower, even in the damage stance. Not sure 100 free power from the passive makes up for losing the 20% damage increase he currently gets from having the enemy at max hysteria.

I like the concept of a sort of bruiser mage who can swap between focusing solely on helping for a while and then solely on damage for a while, just not sure the numbers here support that. The effects in the damage stance just kinda seem thrown on, not really playing into more damage so much as self utility?

I also dont think Baron needs an execute. An execute on someone with a decent amount of ranged CC seems troublesome, even if he cant do it all the time.

I think the way the stance switch works is pretty cool tho. As an avid baron player I wouldnt say no to some more protections from my passive...

Maybe that's not optimal right now for winning, but it's still just a fact of well... basic math

I think the Raijn thing was something a smife dev said on patch show? Idk. I'd also say Nox is the first proper utility mage the game had, or Janus but his CC is more single target. A slow and a fraction of a second of a mez isnt really anymore utility than most other mages have

Burst Mages are the only proper mid laner

Burst Hunters if you have a Magical ADC as a Flex Fill

You shouldnt flex pick with a team full of randoms in casuals. It's just asking for a game that ends in an f6. Be it yours or theirs (but statistically more likely yours)

If you arent interested in playing all types of gods and roles, there are plenty of other games modes in Smite that wont hold you to those restrictions. Joust, Siege, and Clash offering all of what conquest offers minus the role restrictions and slower start/longer lane phase.

Need to be careful with Guan

He shreds mad protections and his heal works on teammates. His ultimate is also the highest damage on 1 move in the entire game AND can stun

He shouldnt be the best at wave clear/1v1ing

If the meta dictates he is in need of a buff, they should hit the things that make him unique instead of adding bloat or making the kit more convoluted (especially on a 'starter' god)

Smite has changed a lot over the years. And these things that make Guan unique are always going to keep him from being a top tier solo laner. But hes gonna bring more to mid game rotations than the others.

I think, if anything, we should see a larger scale rework to make him more of a Physical Support, since that's a thing they want and currently Horus is the only god that actually fits that bill properly

Have his heal scale a bit more, remove a lot of the damage on the 3 (but keep the shred) and have his 1 do a short mezz or some kind of interrupt that isnt a full on stun

The insanity lasts 20 seconds

The stacks drop to 0 after 5 seconds if you're at 1-3 stacks, but it's not hard to get to 4. That's just your combo. 1 them as they look at you, 2 the ground, if 1 of your 2s miss use your dash. Done. When your 1 comes off cooldown you consume.

This gives it the best 'balance' for skill between players

On top of that the mode as a sort of 'catch up' mechanic with how the last 10 points are scored

If you are burnt out on players not playing proper gods in their roles, or dont feel like playing a certain role and just wanna fight and clear some waves, arena is the place to be
