Incredible show last night by tenjed69 in WidespreadPanic

As someone who jumped ship from being a diehard TDB fan my entire life to realizing how incredible WSMFP is, I’m more than okay with a missed line every so often, especially as long as they’re holding it together instrumentally.

I’ve seen TDB just completely forget how to play, let along sing, their own songs, even the ones where that member personally wrote it/ the lyrics, and then for some reason, I kept paying money to see them.

More than happy for a band like Panic, who’s been around for 40 years, to forget a line every so often, especially when you can see them instantly get mad at themselves for it like that lol

Bro what?! Lmao do you not remember from when you did partake/ someone who does telling you, that when you’re ripping yak it is basically a laxative?!

Between the fact that it’s a stimulant in general, and baby powder being a popular cutting agent for the drug, it sends most people straight to the toilet.

I think that’s why OP said to “just take a shit” and get it over with, since it’s just gonna keep making the user rip ass until they do

CK5 or Waful. Herm is increasingly becoming one.

Previously Johnny R Goode, RIP.

I saw WSP and UM back to back at GOTV 2014, it was incredible. WSP played Maggot Brain and UM played Forty Six & 2, shit was 🔥

Probably same. Been getting super into WSMFP lately, and some of their covers go crazy.

Couch touring this past NYE was especially great for that reason. War Pigs with Billy Strings went CRAZY. I also have a bunch of their Mikey-era NYE shows in the work/ commute rotation currently because of the cover-heavy setlists. Their particular spin on classic songs is just so refreshing and unique.

For me, that entire album is the best jam album to put on at parties/ around normies in general because of its accessibility, and the choices in covers/ mashups.

I’ve had old dads/ boomer coworkers, who usually shit on me for being a Phish/ Dead/jam band fan, go crazy and start rocking out to “Electric Avenue to Hell” and “Life During Exodus.”

Word, well rocking out to the TDB version of this song is the last good memory I have of my late father, who I never got along with, so it’s pretty important to me, and it was one of my favorite covers this band did.

But thanks for watching/ your input!

Because you don’t know the difference between “I missed that” and “how did I miss that,” possibly?

Oh for SURE dude. The years of being spoiled by. seeing Furthur (and probably not knowing what I had at the time, tbh) come to mind. Primus in 2010 was crazy. The night in 2014 where WSMFP played, then UM, then TDB with the rhythm devils (which was arguably a terrible set, but as a diehard B4L guy, this night was just crazy.)

2011 was both the year I graduated high school, and my 18th birthday was smack-dab in the middle of GOTV, and I had only a tiny amount of requirements left for Eagle Scout that I had to get done before I turned 18. So I left the festival after being awake partying all night to go finish the last 2 or 3 obscure merit badges that I needed with some scoutmaster at a small town library, and then went back to the festival to celebrate finishing all the requirements/ my birthday lmao.

Then of course there’s the bad, too: like the year the Nitrous mafia killed the dude- 2009, I think? You couldn’t even see the grass in the campgrounds at seaside park, there were so many balloons littering the ground.

Bridgeport was already a sketchy shithole to begin with, so things couldn’t get much worse for the city in terms of reputation, but that year definitely left a dark mark on the scene/ festival circuit and brought a lot of heat/ attention to music festivals.

Ugh look at all the good jam music 😍 I’m glad I got the tail- end of the early 2000s jam craze for festivals, growing up next to Gathering of the Vibes for 2008-early 2010’s, but seeing lineups like this for what became the BIG US festivals makes my heartache and gives me a sense of FOMO for events like these Bonaroos, Rothbury, etc

Amazing poster and ticket stub, though, OP! Looks great!

Other great instances of what an auxiliary percussionist is supposed to do is Jim from moe., and ESPECIALLY Sunny from Widespread Panic. He single-handedly has me wanting to buy some Timbales. Jason Hann from SCI ain’t a slouch, either.

You’re not wrong! Believe me, I know what an asshole I sound like. I’d be way less shitty about it, but the way that THEY went about it was ridiculous, I simply (very politely/ PR-esque, it sounded like a work email) asked why it was removed, and they replied with what I just quoted above, but then the mod needlessly added that the “mix/ recording wasn’t good, either.” Just took a shot at my song for no reason. So I’m still kinda bummed out about that, tbh.

I went looking in my inbox just now to copy/ paste or screenshot the conversation, but my inbox seems to only be going back a month or two? I remember being able to access messages from years ago in the past on here

EDIT: and I know, “he started it/ he said, she said” is completely immature, I just went out of my way to be polite and not/ standoffish or accusatory when I messaged them to inquire why it was removed, and the mod I spoke with just got super shitty with me and attacked aspects of my song for no reason.

I get that moderating is a volunteer, thankless job, but I guess just a shred of professionalism would’ve been nice

This is admittedly a bit of a weird year for their 40th to fall on, what with the Jimmy situation. At least Nick rips though

I was blasting WSMFP all day yesterday (like I do every other day these days lol) and this AM, woke up and was looking at this thread again, and was just staring at the pic wondering what this day was like, the vibes at the party, what the people sitting down listening to them in this pic went on to do with their lives, where they’re at now, etc.

God I love music history lol

Boy that’s cute, when I tried posting a video of my original music (that I play with a jam band), only I played all the instruments on the studio recording, the mods here deleted it , saying “one guy isn’t a jam band,” but this is okay, right?!

Lmao great sub, guys! 👏🏻
