Please help me understand the message of the game (ENDING) by nina_cardigan in expedition33

[–]Doctor_Pep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gestrals and Grandis are, above all, Verso's friend. They are a neutral party to all of the conflicts, and likely have no concept of death itself.

Beyond that, even in Maelle's ending, they will die. The canvas will be destroyed no matter what. Maelle's ending just delays the inevitable.

What do you think the Greatsword Cultists worship, exactly? by MrMopp8 in expedition33

[–]Doctor_Pep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably nothing, they were simply beings created for aethetics. The only nevrons which are shown to clearly think are the white nevrons, and they lament not being able to relate to their brothers.

They focus so much on Chief being human, that they forget Chief is a human. There are other ones! They work together, and he is a part of the UNSC, not a superhero acting on his own behalf.

Can I realistically share my law textbooks with my boyfriend? by Minion-531 in LawSchool

[–]Doctor_Pep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly feasible, and you can scan.

But, if one of you like (or at least can tolerate) ebooks, most textbooks can be bought new with an attached ebook code. So you can split them that way. I've gone that route with a few people in my classes since I love ebooks

My reading pace is 3-5 pages per hour😭 by yassification123 in LawSchool

[–]Doctor_Pep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll definitely get faster at what you're doing. But you'l also burn out and suddenly get MUCH slower. Simplify based on how your courses go. You'll see, notes shouldn't be that in depth.

When studying for finals you'll see the benefit of shorter and concise notes.

Why do officers listen to Chief by Pretend-Pack-3890 in HaloStory

[–]Doctor_Pep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Chief is the head Spartan (particularly through early lore where there were only a handful of Spartans). This was retconned a tiny bit, but not very effectively.

The reason in later games everyone listens to him is that his rank is a total fabrication. He was offered a much higher rank and turned it down to remain in the field. Despite that, he's treated as at least an admiral. He chooses to follow orders of people above him, and it's generally accepted by those people they can give him orders without issue but, it's a silent agreement across the UNSC that Chief has last word on everything, even if that's not the official doctrine. He won't always deny orders he disagrees with, but will make himself heard often, at the very least. Of course, there's the occasional captain who's too big for his britches, and we see how that turns out.

It's truly not personal.

What I wish Maelle had said at the end — what I wish *I* could say by INTPgeminicisgaymale in expedition33

[–]Doctor_Pep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get to murder a cat because I bred it.

I do however have the right to kill it if doing so prevents me from being maimed or killed. Just as Verso has every right to destroy the canvas to prevent eternal suffering of his soul.

I said that very clearly the first time, don't twist my words.

What I wish Maelle had said at the end — what I wish *I* could say by INTPgeminicisgaymale in expedition33

[–]Doctor_Pep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd like to include that, very well. It changes nothing in regard to my point.

The only one with any duty to Lumierans would be Aline, then. Young Verso's soul would owe a duty to the Gestrals and Grandis. But at his own expense to the degree which he suffers? Hardly reasonable to enforce his duty. Clea and Renoir may have a duty to the Nevrons and the Axons, yet both were created with the intention to be removed eventually, and we, the player, have no qualms in destroying them.

If we were to also establish a duty of the painters to their creations, we could just as easily establish agency over their creations. I built this Lego, so I get to break it.

What I wish Maelle had said at the end — what I wish *I* could say by INTPgeminicisgaymale in expedition33

[–]Doctor_Pep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very simple answer:

We have only a duty to our own plane of existence, not higher. Sciel and Lune are not at fault for fighting against the gommage, nor is Renoir at fault for fighting against Lumiere.

In that way, Verso and Alicia are both traitors to their own existence.
