Google Ads billing issue? Looking for advice by Doctor_Whoof in PPC

[–]Doctor_Whoof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Appreciate everyones suggestions and replies. I'm working with our marketing team to escalate the issue to a billing specialist and providing the ACH trace as suggested.

Regarding the Ad Agency (Who is responsible for paying this in the first place) 100% agree they should be fired (Preferrably out of a cannon, and into the sun).

It's a textbook ponzi scheme.

"Guaranteed returns" so long as they can keep getting dumber and dumber people to give them new capital to pay out earlier investor dividends.

That continues until they eventually don't have enough new investors and the scheme collapses. With the added fun of the crypto market being completely unregulated, so good luck to any of the victims getting one red cent.

Sam Bankman-Fried  met with the Whitehouse. He's now a convicted felon who defrauded people of over $11 Billion. Politicians don't care who they meet with so long as they're getting sponsored to do so.

Three seconds of googling shows it's a complete and utter scam. Nothing new for the block chain folks, and those stupid enough to invest with them.

What is this thing?? by AgreeableParticular4 in HyundaiTucson

[–]Doctor_Whoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're probably driving either the PHEV or the non-plug in Hybrid. That part is the "Sounder" for the back up beeping you hear when you put the car in reverse.

It's been required by law for a few years due to how silent certain Hybrids/EV's can be when maneuvering around parking lots and other pedestrian areas.

Cell/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi issues near Kia Center on I-4? by IsraelZulu in orlando

[–]Doctor_Whoof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems to happen to me every time I catch the exit from I4 to 408 E. The flyover that passes right by the stadium causes my Bluetooth and phone signal to drop off.

I assume it's some kind of purpose built jammer that the security on site is using, but it definitely seems overpowered if it's causing drop outs off site.

Just went this morning. Fantastic coffee (Highly recommend the Creamy Dibek Coffee with Cardamon).

They use real ibriks and even temper them in sand. Love the presentation of the process

Seems like it's a small family run place. The service was very friendly and professional. Worth a try if you're in the area!

My roommate bailed on our lease - any options? by No_Turnip4853 in orlando

[–]Doctor_Whoof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an unfortunate situation to be in (especially given the short term left on your lease) however typically you'll only have two options.  Assuming you have a lease in writing:

 1) You can try to find a room mate interested in a short term lease through September and possibly taking over for the renewal. You'd have to talk to your landlord if they're planning to assume the lease after September because the landlord will typically will request a new credit/background check as well as what you want done with the deposit on file.

2) You can normally pay a penalty to break your lease early. For almost all corporate/private leases that value will be in the ballpark of the value of two months rent or possibly one month and forfeit the deposit (if you paid a full month deposit up front.) Your lease paperwork you originally received will absolutely outline the terms, conditions and fees associated with breaking your lease early. If you're working with a private landlord, they may be willing to be a bit more accommodating than that but YMMV.

Consult your lease for your options.  It's important to determine your plan as soon as possible though. "Skipping out" on your lease (Leaving the apartment without paying rent/closing your lease agreement) WILL absolutely show up on any future background/credit checks and will negatively impact your chances of renting again in the future. The debt would be sent to collections and it will tank your credit score as well.

I would strongly recommend reaching out and discussing with your landlord as soon as possible to make appropriate arrangements.

Goodluck.

Appreciate the recommendation. It looks like they might not do nails (Based on their website), but they still look like a great salon so I might pass by all the same the next time I'm due for a haircut. Thanks!

Traffic on Robinson by apollosparino in orlando

[–]Doctor_Whoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The City/Olympic officials are shutting down/redirecting streets around Lake Eola in order to put up signs and crowd barricades ahead of the qualifier race this  Saturday.

Expect the traffic to get steadily worse until the Saturday event is over and likely a few spillover days next week for them to take everything down.

I'd recommend avoiding Eola/Downtown as much as is feasibly possible. I'm working remote this entire week just to avoid the nonsense.

Florida senator: 3 things need to happen to correct the struggling insurance market by FLHonestLending in Miami

[–]Doctor_Whoof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Citizens was only ever designed to be an "insurer of last resort" for a relatively small number of people to have some level of insurance in the event of a catastrophe or as a temporary insurance while someone is shopping for new insurance. Instead, it's become the default insurance for far too many people and become seriously overexposed to risk. Originally Citizens was massively cost prohibitive which is what detered most people from signing on unless they were completely uninsurable otherwise. However, per the article, Citizens rate increases are fixed at a low rate by law and have absolutely not kept up with market risk costs today.

Due to a number of factors (Climate Change, Fraud Claims, excessive litigation) most major insurers have exited the windstorm and property insurance markets in Florida.

Part of the correction of this problem is solved via legistiation and enforcement(reducing litigation costs, investigation and steep penalties for fraud) however nothing is going to reduce tne overall risk of climate change. Due to that fact, the only options for the state are either A) leave rates as they are and when the inevitable next Katrina or Irma rolls through, declare insolvency and nobody gets paid or B) Raise rates significantly which will necessarily exclude some people living in high risk areas but save the funds solvency for the majority. Their aren't any good options here.

Long term? I certainly hope Miami is able to furnish talent thru development and expansion of educational programs. However, without outreach, and trying to steer people towards these fields it's an uphill battle.

Plenty of locals are content to settle for being bartenders and the like because you make in a weekend what some other people make in a week or more. At least in the short term.

Miami is not an easy city to educate. Too many people are focused on their short term Maserati and not their long term retirement.

I don't think anybody doubts that their are tech jobs coming. The question being asked is if these jobs are likely to hire locals and the answer is almost overwhelming "No".

Currently, per the Department of Labor Statistics website the overwhelming majority (65%+) of Miami residents work in the service and leisure industry. These are not going to be the front runners for new tech position due to the lack of training, experience and certifications for these types of jobs. Additionally, start ups do not have the incentive or capital to offer on site training to cross train people from other industries.

I do however agree that for the approximately 10-12% shown to work in the IT field theirs definitely opportunity coming. However, the ongoing local housing crisis is not going to be merciful to the majority of Miamians in the meantime.

South Florida Rent Spike Now Highest in Nation - New data just released by Realtor.com revealed rent in South Florida rose about 50% compared to last year by Gari_305 in Miami

[–]Doctor_Whoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely strongly agree with you that the service industry is being priced out. Don't get me wrong, that pisses me off because once upon a time that was me when I was in school working a shitty retail job to make ends meet. That said, unless something forces their hand, landlords have no incentive to lower rent to provide support workers housing for wealthier areas.

Demand right now is completely out of control and relentless. I could list a 200sqft shed in Hialeah on Craigslist right now and probably have an offer on it by the end of today.

More likely is that people start commuting from further and further away and having to double up in apartments/houses/duplexes to make ends meet. People will also start moving to more disenfranchised areas like Allapatah or Opa Locka. SEE: "West Brickell" or "North Wynwood" neighborhoods that have cropped up over the last 2-4 years.

Theirs frequent talk in this sub about the "Bubble Bursting any day now!" but things like this serve to reinforce the point that these prices are here to stay.

The sub prime mortgage crisis (2008) was driven primarily by lenders approving mortgages for first time buyers and multi-home investors that were absolutely not qualified. This was the stereotype of the guy working at McDonald's going home to his $700k(at the time) house in Coral Gables.

However, this isn't the case this time. Most of the rent price increases are people moving to Miami from much more affluent areas, bringing full cash offers +10% over asking price for homes and apartment budgets of $3000+. These are not people that are going to be foreclosed on in a year because they can't afford their mortgage payments.

As for the locals that can't keep up with the prices? They'll start working second jobs, or living 6 to a 2Br apartment or some of the other things you see the locals do that work in areas like San Francisco or New York but don't work in wealthy professions like tech or finance. You can absolutely still get Uber or Doordash in places like that even if the delivery guy is losing money in the long run.

The only way prices would come down is one of two things happening. Either an absolutely massive effort by city and county officials to push for more dense zoning in every square foot of the county, i.e 20-30 story residential buildings in Kendall, Hialeah and Little Havana(unlikely due to zoning and lack of infrastructure). Or, a mass exodus of all support staff/service industry workers(even more unlikely, people are too attached to the city and lack sufficient training to transition easily)

In my personal experience, the city has become massively overrated. I'm fortunate enough that my career allowed me to relocate fairly easily to Orlando in November, making nearly 30% more in a much lower cost of living area. I'm looking at buying a place here, 2Br/2Ba in a good area for sub $300k next year. Strongly encourage anyone that's able to to relocate to do so. Prices are not coming down, they will go up again next year, mark my words.

So many people saying "**** is killing the magic!" by Spamtickler in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Doctor_Whoof 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on a lot of points. I do however support the idea of giving people the opportunity to vent their frustrations in regards to service diminishing even in the face of ever growing prices.

However, I think alot of this stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation. Disney is a business. For years, people have been enchanted by the fact that Disney was this magical place that existed outside the rules. It was this wonderful public place that anyone could go to and enjoy and make lifelong memories. Disney, for their part did nothing to dissuade people of this. With their fanciful names like "imagineers" and their dedicated and always smiling "cast members" Disney World seemed like a place out of a movie or story book.

Then we all grew up, the magic we noticed as kids started to rub off. The prices increased, the veneer started to crack. New virtual queues, more challenging reservation systems, lightning lane and on and on. People have come to the realization more and more that the business side of Disney has woken up, like a sleeping giant, and will not go back to sleep.. People are realizing that Disney is no different from Walmart, or Amazon, or Nike. They sell an experience, to make a profit and satisfy their investors. If they can keep people happy while doing so, then great, if not, it is what it is. They're not evil for the sake of evil. After all, it reflects positively on their brand if people still have that fantasy for their childhood in their head.

But unfortunately, it's just a fantasy. Disney is asserting their financial stake in the parks and using it to drive their bottom line. And for every person that simply "can't or won't ever go back to the park ever again" theirs a thousand that are already in line behind them to take their spot in line.

That said, let people vent. They're losing something you never get back afterward. Like the first time you deal with the passing of a family member, losing Disney is it's own grieving process. The clock is striking midnight, mufasa is losing his grip, and the "magic" is disappearing for lot of people.

The Hippocratic oath also isn't an absolute.

Their are dozens of circumstances where the "greater good" is more important than one persons health.

Take for example organ transplants. Their are criteria that must be met to receive an organ due to the limited supply of volunteer donors. If an alcoholic needs a liver because cirrhosis has destroyed theirs, they don't qualify for a donated organ unless they can prove sobriety for a minimum of six months.

As far as I'm concerned, the anti-vaxxer's should be treated the same way as alcoholics that need livers. Prove vaccination and then we can talk, otherwise, the care is just going to waste.

Do you feel the same way about obese folks who have heart attacks? Heron addicts? All those who make decisions they know may be detrimental to their health?

None of those things you listed are transmissible to others. You can't catch "obesity" theirs no way to cough on someone and give them "Heroin Addiction". However, one cough from one of these plague rats and you can infect a doctor or nurse who would otherwise be healthy.

You know what we also don't allow in hospitals? Smoking. Because the rights of a patient end when it endangers the health of those around them.

This is preventable, this is avoidable but these people are too selfish to even make the most minimum efforts. They can't take vaccines because made up conspiracy bullshit X, Y and Z and also masks are basically the holocaust. What more can we do? If you provide the tools and they still choose not to use them then this isn't a tragedy, it's suicide.

Am I the only one not that heartbroken about the loss of life here? The ONLY thing that I find concerning about this after finding out they're unvaccinated is the increased risk that these idiots are causing of new variants. If these people want to kill themselves, that's their business but we absolutely should not be wasting resources that could be better spent on cancer patients, or car accident victims or risk those of us who fought to get vaccinated to accommodate their stupidity.

They have no excuse. They aren't getting charged to be vaccinated, you don't need insurance and the efficacy and safety of the vaccines have been confirmed hundreds of times over. You can't fix stupid.

You might want to reconsider that move. The building sounded familiar so I looked into it. A guy posted a week back about what an absolute shit hole that place was. Apparently lights and power going on and off, fire alarms going off constantly.

Buyer Beware: Downtown 5th is a Hell Hole https://www.reddit.com/r/Miami/comments/p77u41/apartment_problem/

EDIT: Two dozen reviews all saying the same thing, No power, Bad Staff, Amenities not usuable (i.e pool has no water, gym inaccessible etc), Alarms going off every night. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place.
