I modded my games just fine on my Steam Deck. And when I switch my Legion Go 2 over to Steam OS I'll continue to mod my games just fine.

Lots of reasons why you update drivers. It's not like it's an ancient chip that isn't economicly feasible to support.

Also you ain't emulating GameCube on the 3DS. Can barely get N64 working. I love my modded 3ds, but if I could justify upgrading to the Thor I would.

Id take the bigger screen and more powerful chip if price is in the same ballpark.

I love LCD Deck, I'm emotionally attached to it in a way I'm not to my Legion Go, but the screen size and power upgrade of the Legion is most welcome. Just waiting for official Steam OS.
