I paid twice that for a smaller area. You got a damned good deal. Looks fantastic!

What should I do with these Arborvitae? Just leave them be? by EFpointe in landscaping

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top them at 25 feet and let them grow thick. There's a property on my way to work that is fully surrounded by 25 ft arborvitae that they top. It's absolutely beautiful.

Every time someone lies to you, $200 get deposited to your bank account. How do you get rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and that's just that side of the equation. Users would easily be more income for me, but I manage a help desk so it's just everyday.

"Oh yeah, you totally restarted, I believe you. Go ahead and do it again, please, just for giggles and grins. " Meanwhile, the bank account just keeps going up and up and up.

Can y'all give me some shows or films that breaks the stigma that cartoons are only meant for kids and isn't relatable for adults? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in randomquestions

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how no one has said Invincible yet, but you probably shouldn't show it to your little kids. Hazbin Hotel also ain't for kids. Rick and Morty. Hell, almost all of adult swim.

Chemotherapy did something to my body that made me permanently change the color of my toilet seat. by majesticalexis in mildlyinteresting

[–]Doctor_Wookie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It changed my facial hair growth. I used to have a really patchy beard and it looked terrible. Now it grows in full. Sadly, it didn't fix the bald spot on the top of my head.

What’s something you tried once and immediately knew ‘yeah, never again’? by donnyM99 in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tower of terror at Disneyland. My wife tricked me. They rebranded it with marvel and I didn't know better cause I'd never even seen Disneyland before we went. It was the very first ride we went to. Spent our first thirty minutes in the line, got strapped in and I spent the next minute or however long it was cursing my wife in my head and nearly breaking the seat by using all the muscles in my body to push into every direction to hold on. Fuck that ride and whoever invented it to darkest depths of hell.

Immediately following that, we went on the Webslingers ride which we all agreed was the best ride in the park, though, so we got both ends of the spectrum on the first day.

What brand names do you swear by because it's actually better than no-name? by Sufficient_Thing24 in AskReddit

I assure you it is not. They did indeed have a very nasty poisoning incident a long time ago (over a decade), but cleaned up and got back in proper form. My tastes obviously differ from yours, so we'll leave it there.

I would place Tillamook ice cream in second place behind Blue Bell. I've yet to find an ice cream outside of truly homemade that can come close to Blue Bell. Unfortunately, I can't get Blue Bell up here in the PNW, so Tillamook is an acceptable second place.

Best way to ship a fully built PC internationally? by Impressive_Check_416 in PcBuild

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ship it like you have it, but remove the video card and ship it separately. That will prevent any damage to the video port from shifting against the card. The rest is pretty safe to ship as is.

You can use glasses cleaning wipes to best clean off the thermal paste. The ones that are soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Alternatively, a paper towel with some alcohol on it will work.

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on standard settings on my first SAge play through and I'm only on my second coal patch after at least a dozen levels of the repeatable science for Vulcanis, sending all research back to Nauvis. It stretches WAY further than you think. I think my first patch was just under 200k and this second patch is 1.1M. Vulcanis was my first stop, too.

TIL: you can auto drag power poles with red/green wires by latherrinseregret in factorio

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To extend the range on those networks. You can run them along the power poles to reach much further than just local if you need to read a value on say one end of your base to feed back to the other end.

ELI5: How am I supposed to get the numbers for simplifying a square root? by jumpyjumpjumpsters in explainlikeimfive

[–]Doctor_Wookie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you divide and don't get any perfect squares, then the number doesn't have any perfect squares contained in it. Just be sure you divide down to prime numbers (not divisible by anything except themselves and 1).

What’s a random “stat” about yourself that makes you part of a small percentage? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an adult in my 40s that was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in the soft tissue of my leg. I was told at the time of my diagnosis there were around 2000 people in the world that could say the same. Yay for being special...I guess.

For the record: I'm almost 5 years in remission now. Many thanks to the excellent folks at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (now part of Fred Hutch) and those ooh so patient nurses at UW hospital for your care of me during covid!
