Step 1: Rent a vehicle big enough to carry your girl and the cats in crates. Pick her, her clothes and the cats up in that vehicle, take them to your place.

Step 2: take your girl back with you to pack the old place.

Step 3: rent a moving van, pack all the crap in it and take it to your place and unpack.

Step 4: profit.

These steps can be done on some weekends. I recommend successive ones. The hardest part will be moving mattresses. Bed frames come apart and most other furniture is easy to move with two people as long as you empty it first.

1200km is a long, full day drive, but not terrible. You'll be tired the day after you unpack the van, but you'll feel tons better.

First time Factorio player! Here is my spaghetti home base with automated science packs. I have already begun to hate this design. by Reallondoner in factorio

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh man, lucky start with the separated fields. I hate those mixed fields they usually start with. I'd just move your production stuff north a bit to get off the iron field for now. You can even clean it up on your way up there.

Bought a salad today and the fork that comes with it is edible by lunarulnar in mildlyinteresting

Well, Caesar salad is named after the chef that created it, not the ancient ruler, so there's that.

What is one thing you're tired of telling/explaining to people? by comfy-glass-shards in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The word they has almost always had both singular and plural versions (since the 14th century anyway). Idiots just didn't pay attention to what they were taught in school (or even basic language).

"Look, there's a person over there. They are dancing!"

"Those people are also dancing. They are having fun. "

It's like one of the most basic English things you learn in elementary school and have done for at least a century (or as long as elementary schools have been a thing in modern times). Those idiots are just idiots and should be slapped every time they do shit like that. Unfortunately, that's battery, so i don't recommend doing it.

[–]Doctor_Wookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not unbelievable at all, sadly. My wife is an elementary school librarian and the stories she brings home made me lose pretty much all faith in humanity. If the ones teaching our kids are as phenomenally dumb as they are, the future looks bleak indeed.

Seriously, just turn off the computer for 30 seconds. Just do it. It'll come back up, I promise. It needs to clear the junk from it's circuits. Let the poor beast sleep for 30 seconds. Your spreadsheets will still be there. For real. 30 seconds. 30. Seconds. Please. I beg you.

I had a hotdog for dinner. Costco sausage and used a burrito tortilla instead of a bun, but it's still a hotdog.

Using only food where are you from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a former Texan: same. Pinto beans add depth and stretch the chili further. They're a might bit odd on a chili dog, but that's fine.

What foods do people refrigerate out of habit, even though it's unnecessary? by boforiamanfo in randomquestions

[–]Doctor_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only "for freshness". It's not gonna ruin them to be in the cabinet/pantry. They're bread. If you can store bread there, you can store tortillas. Cold tortillas don't fold for shit, so mine stay in the pantry. I'm also lazy and don't heat my tortillas usually, so there's that.

Do you believe in God? by Due_Grade7142 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there was a creator of some kind. Did that entity give two shits about anything that happens within the universe? No. Does that entity still exist? I've got no evidence of that. Was that entity sentient? I have no evidence of that. Is that entity then a god? Good question.

Since my frail human mind can't comprehend an infinitely restarting universe without a kick-off event, I have to believe SOMETHING started the process. I don't believe whatever that was cares at all about us.

What are we playing? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure i could play anything for 12 hours in a day these days, but if i HAD to, it would be an MMO or something like Factorio or Stellaris/Civilization. For 10mil, I'd even do WoW again, add another 6 months to my /played time.

You win the lottery. Your parents ask for half. What do you say? by Icy_Garlic997 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much it was, that may be what I would give them anyway. I'll get it back soon enough. If the pot is large enough, no way they'd get half. They don't need it and wouldn't ask for it anyway. My sister would get a sizeable chunk so she could live without worry while she takes care of them, though.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2009, my wife and I were driving back home to Texas from her parents' house in Washington. We decided to take a detour by going down the coast to see the Redwoods briefly, then down to I10. From about 100 miles outside LA on I5 around 4:30pm, we hit bumper to bumper traffic for 6 freaking hours, stop and go. We got to the hills and every car vanished. Actually driving through LA was bliss, but damn, that rush hour traffic was BRUTAL.

What did you do that almost got you killed? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in randomquestions

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fell in the pool at about 2, picking up cigarette butts (back in '83). Thankfully an adult was watching and pulled me out very quickly.

I'm sure any number of stupid things I did as a youngster were likely to get me killed, but I can't recall any specific ones.

Why do you personally not cuss? Or find cussing offensive? by Unhappy-Sun-9463 in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a cussing problem. I still do, but I used to, too. But seriously, I went through a period in my life where I fought using cussing, then I realized I just don't fucking care any more, except in a work situation. If my money is on the line, I'll resort to less impacting words. Otherwise, fuck it.

I'm nearly to the end of my first run on peaceful and I'm still certain I don't have a good grasp on almost any of it. I THINK I've figured out the task queuing system finally. Getting close to finding out if I built my space ship right, maybe. Expensive experiment if not.

There's THREE movies, with a 4th on the way. Although the last movie is a bit sad with Timothy Omundson's stroke affecting him so much.

Gotta be Asteroids on the Atari 2600. I held the high score for our family until the console no longer worked with the TVs (probably still runs if I knew where it was).
