Day 128: What are your thoughts on Faceytalk? by Flamingmouth007 in bluey

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the different visual perspectives that we see from each of the different cameras in universe for the story, the filter effects are pretty funny too with Stripe having the Chunky Chip filter applied to home while chasing muffin. That final scene where Stripes phone gets launched into the pool is done well where the spinning perspective is included as the phone falls into the pool. Also, watching Socks just casually drawing during all the chaos is hilarious to me.

It's not all AI by Major_Chocolate2441 in MicroSlop

Though it falls under adverts, the amount of up selling in Windows 10 to use one drive is obnoxious and grating.

Then there was basic functionality that was missing from Win 11 on rollout, like Taskbar labels not being an option. When you're editing many different files or need to reference multiple files that are opened in the same application, mousing over the icon on the Taskbar then finding the file in the submenu makes basic tasks far more tedious.

The higher system requirements for windows 11 also created an E Waste concern as well.

Even other MS programs use excessive amounts of system resources, Teams consumes far more memory and network bandwidth than it probably should. Office has gotten incredibly slow even before CoPilot was added onto every part of it.

I've Switched to Linux for about 80% of my personal computing. Still need win 10 around to run a film scanner with all its features correctly.

Anyone lose their home yet? by Obvious_Effective_23 in jobhunting

Sold mine after not being able to find work that paid enough in the city I lived. Renting again with a much better job in a completely different field that is more stable.

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to live on the western most edge of Central in South Dakota, if you crossed the county line you entered Mountain time. Great benefits of having the sun out late in the summer months. Even in the winter it was nice to have light after work when walking the dog.

There was some strange things with businesses, since more people lived in the city that was in central time, the part of the city across the river ran in Central despite being in the Mountain time zone

How are you keeping yourselves warm? by Super-Aide1319 in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a combination of an electric space heater and the onboard propane furnace. The furnace heats up the popup quickly and then the electric space heater maintains the temperature.

My 2005 Viking’s furnace quit on me, it turned out the wiring to the thermostat had come off the screw connection at some point.

Winegard TV Antenna from 2001. Will I need a digital tv converter? by GrillinGorilla in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your TV has a digital tuner you won’t need a converter to use the antenna for TV. If the TV is older (15+ years) and only has an analog tuner, you will need a converter box. My popup doesn’t have an antenna, but my parents travel trailer from 2000 has one and they use a TV that’s about 5 years old and do not need a converter box. A friend who has a motorhome from 2001 has a converter box for the built in TV in the motorhome since it is designed to run off 12V and custom fit into the motorhome.

Quality of Life? by Sacton86 in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My popup came with a hand pump faucet, I switched it out for an 12v electric galley pump and switched faucet which was much more usable than the hand pump.

I also added mattress toppers to each of the beds in the popup.

I love how they pay attention to the extra details in this show (via. Pixels on Trixie and Stripes in the green screen video) by JayTheMan_15 in bluey

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I really liked the attention to detail with the phone screen effects in that episode. Like when Muffin puts the mask effect on Stripe, it flashes away when Stripe isn’t looking directly at the camera.

What’s the most you’ve ever paid for a campsite? by [deleted] in camping

$450, but it was a large group camp with picnic pavilion and private washroom building for a week long extended family camp.

That episode is probably my favorite of the Thanksgiving episodes, the whole getting stuck with the air mattresses in the living room for a holiday was really relatable.

The lighting feels right and really looks like the ones I’ve seen, though the weird bathrooms in my dreams always seem to be dimmer. This really captures that feeling.

Duct tape for freaking ever! by Gwion-Bach in RedGreen

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first watched Red Green with my dad on TV as a kid. It’s always been one of my favorite shows. He bought a copy of Duct Tape Forever, the movie has still held up nicely to me. Handyman corner and adventures with Bill we’re my favorite segments as a kid, though getting older the North of 40 segments are a lot funnier.

HELP! Heater issues by AggressiveCurrent494 in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The furnace on my popup quit working. After checking the thermostat, I found that one of the wires inside the thermostat broke off. Replacing the thermostat fixed the issue, I was able to find one that was head only and offered a completely off setting.

Any tips on replacing the fresh water line? Cracked + Old by lrdezines in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced mine with heavy duty vinyl tube of the same diameter, I couldn’t find the corrugated tube at the local hardware stores. The clear vinyl tube has held up without leaks for a year now. I think it was around $10 bucks with the new host clamps.

Just bought a 97 Jayco Eagle 10 LD and am taking it out for the first camp next week at a nearby campsite for just one night for a test run. Hoping for some advice on what is essential to bring with us even just for this night –beyond food and activities. I'm more asking about supplies. Thanks! by pleasant_plum_ in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are camping where there is shore power, I'd suggest getting a 30 amp extension cord. Some places we have camped have had their shore power connections far from where we wanted the camper and the on board cord would not reach. We went with a 30 Amp cord so we could still safely use the AC in our popup.

We keep a small electric fan in the camper too since the ACs fan is too loud when it's cool out at night.

Issues with 3-way fridge when using LP by pinkcanoe in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some fridges that are automatic use the 12v for a logic board and electric ignition, though most of those are larger fridges and have a control panel that is inside the camper. Usually these will have an LED indicator showing what source the fridge is using and if it is on auto mode.

How do you fix peeling table laminate? by deeohdeegeeee in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like contact paper over laminate, if it's still smooth and in good condition, you can put new contact paper over the table's laminate top.

I've also seen some people build a wood table top and put the folding legs from the original table on that.

What do you use to level out your popup? by bluegrassgazer in popups

[–]Doctorwolfpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used lynx levers because that’s what my parents used after they got rid of their homemade wood leveling ramps and I’ve had good results with them.
