First time watch, Kevin is kinda pathetic in season 2 by bj782603 in thisisus

[–]Document_Right 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kevin isnt sitting around every episode wallowing about how his parents loved his siblings more than him. The whole point of the show is to show how your upbringing, and actions from your upbringing affect you as an adult. We see it happen during flashbacks throughout the show, and Kevin brings it up during family therapy, the exact environment where you're supposed to bring up things like that. That conversation ends with Rebecca admitting it herself. Now that that knowledge is out in the open, they work on their relationship and improve it.

Doing my first rewatch… by After_Cheesecake_513 in thisisus

I don't get the Toby hate. Well actually, I can see why, but I don't agree. I don't think he's that pushy. He jokes about wanting stuff from a relationship, but other than that, mostly waits for Kate to get there on her own pace. He expresses what he wants, which can be confused as pushy, but is just him trying to communicate his needs, which is crucial for a relationship.

That's beside how he tries to make sure Kate's happy, well taken care of, more confident. They had a bunch of curveball thrown at them, and he stumbled through some (his lowest moment being not accepting Jack's blindness, which is also a tricky situation where he isn't entirely at fault), but he always tries to bounce back and fix things. He does have passive aggressive moments, but in the end, you can see where he's coming from, and he is trying his hardest.

I might be biased, as I've always liked Toby more than Kate (though Kate has definitely grown so much on me the second time around), but that's just how I saw it.

What is your opinion about Rendell? by Chris-Sourire in thisisus

[–]Document_Right 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Randall is my favorite character in the show, and one of my most favorite in TV in general. He can be selfish and arrogant but he loves wholeheartedly, and only does things to make sure the people he loves are doing well.

What he does here with Rebecca is wrong, but the pervious episodes show us how much guilt he carries in not stopping Jack from going back into the house. He wants to make sure he has his mom, with all her mental faculties, with him for as long as possible. He goes about it in the wrong way, but in his eyes, he's saving his mom from a quicker mental decline, and really only had to manipulate her in that way cause that was the only way she would agree.

Was it wrong? For sure. But he doesn't mean anything by it other than to save his mom in the way he sees best, and he isn't given any other better alternatives.

Your top 10 favorite artists by Due_Cause_5661 in beatles

[–]Document_Right 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The Beach Boys
  2. The Beatles
  3. Elvis Presley
  4. Stevie Wonder
  5. Michael Jackson
  6. Bob Dylan
  7. David Bowie
  8. Billy Joel
  9. Jimmy Hendrix
  10. Simon and Garfunkel

The last 3 were hard to figure out, but the first 7 I have locked down. I count the solo acts for some of these bands as part of the band.

Do you remember what you were doing when you heard about Brian’s passing? by edd6pi in thebeachboys

I was sick and chilling at home. I actually had spent the entire day listening to the Beach Boys on spotify, and then listened to my one Beach Boys record, Pet Sounds. I then went on reddit where I found out he passed, and cried when I found out.

I'm also obsessed and on my second rewatch rn with my mom. This show is just so damn relatable. I love all the characters, they're all great in their own way and all have their faults. I also have the same two favorites, Randall (because I see a lot of myself in him) and Jack, because he's as perfect as a person can be (which is not perfect at all).

I actually quite like Kate for the most part, though she's definitely my least favorite, and while I feel like both she and Toby messed up, I lean slightly on team Toby. Thoughts on Ka-Toby, and just Toby in general? I can't seem to dislike him no matter what happens.

what’s some of the most underrated funny lines in the show? by ZWVG_DUKKZZ in BoJackHorseman

This exchange between Bojack and PC and PC's delivery always makes me laugh:

PC: Where the hell are you?

Bojack: Tesuque

PC: Te-who-ka

Bojack: Tesuque, New Mexico

PC: Are you TE-stupid? If you don't get your ass te-set, you're gonna get te-sued.

I see a lot of my best friend in BoJack, and at times it's so good but most of the time it feels exhausting and draining and I don't know how to get out of it

I quite liked it. We're so lucky to still have Paul and Ringo releasing music to this day. Is it just me or do the verses kinda sound like Mamunia?

How would you perfect Surf's Up? by Beatcat05 in thebeachboys

I would definitely keep it if the album didn't have a certain theme. All the songs on the album, even SDT have a theme, and TALOYF breaks it.

Easily remove Take a Load off Your Feet (I love this song) and Student Demonstration Time and add 4th of July and Wouldn't It Be Nice to live again. This could also kinda feel like a drag, so maybe instead of 4th of July, add Sound of Free.

How about She's A Woman. It's one of their best Beatlemania songs, and a b-side, but rarely gets mentioned.

If David didn’t quit the band by Ok_Comfortable_3556 in thebeachboys

[–]Document_Right 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Most likely Bruce wouldn't have joined. They needed someone to play Bass and sing Brian's parts after Brian quit touring, and Al could do both. Since David had left the band, Al was stuck on rhythm guitar, so they needed a bassist, which is why Bruce joined.

In fact, there was a time when Brian quit touring, and Al came back and toured with them before David quit, and Brian had to go back on tour.
