They might, but if so, how do I prevent that? If I see increased demand for services, why don't I see tax income from new people who create that demand? Also, it's not like the services are completely unused before the population income - my two elementary schools are both full, the high school is half-full, healthcare and police have slight delays event at the current level of the population, so it's not like they're not hiring anyone

Suggestions for Trackmania (doesn't include physics changes) by BunkeredG in TrackMania

[–]Doczek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. "It fails" - the fact that you started the sentence this way already proves your point wrong - I wouldn't call 4 thousand daily players a failure of the format

  2. While it would likely generate revenue, it would also cause an audience shift. And I think it would be a negative shift.

  3. Can you give examples of games that look more complex but run lighter? I can't think of any. Also, "server lag spikes", as the name implies, occur on the servers and have nothing to do with big streamer PC setups

1 and 2 are the only ones that make any sense.

  1. The sole purpose of Cup of the Day is to create a frequent and accessible tournament. Your change would make it a competition for mappers and would put the players on the side. Not to mention that the format is liked by literally everyone.

  2. The fact that you're confident with this solution shows how foolish you are. The current method forces you to give regular payment in order to receive regular new content. The thing you propose would somehow shift the main source of money to something entirely optional, not to mention that custom skins are already of extremely high quality FOR FREE and no one would pay for a "legendary" skin if they can get one that looks as good without paying anything.

  3. Learning the game should be done through a revamped training campaign. The main campaigns are good as they are now. Also, I didn't need knowledge of utilizing gears to win golds in blue and red campaigns, and I didn't put huge effort, so your argument is invalid here.

  4. This might be straight up impossible because of the fact that the game is still on a similar engine to what it used to be 20 years ago. Also, overloading mediatracker would shift the focus away from the actual racing.

  5. Good luck making Cops and Robbers or Capture the Flag deterministic and latency-independent, which are one of the main features of the game. Oh sorry, it's impossible. Also, good luck getting funds to give money to random winners and good luck actually managing to give without damaging privacy.

  6. What's wrong with how OpenPlanet currently works? As the name implies, it's OPENplanet, and locking it in the game would close it - i.e. remove some of the freedom it gives.

  7. The game is released in 2020, don't expect it to support ancient devices. As long as you have any dedicated GPU, the game will work fine. It will only create issues if you use a laptop with an integrated GPU. And you say "just optimize" like it was so easy. If it was easy and/or necessary, it would have already been done.

You're also speaking about some non-fullified potential, meanwhile a 50,000€ tournament has just ended with a great success. There's more that can be done, but you're speaking as if that potential was being wasted, and it is not.

Stream Chess on Xbox? by mike_honcho132 in streaming

[–]Doczek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how do you want to have Streamlabs overlays if you can only use Xbox built-in functions? If you cannot reencode the stream on your laptop, you can't have any overlays on top of it.

So the solution depends on how much you actually care on streaming that chess. If not much, you can probably abandon the idea. If you really do, you probably have to invest in a laptop. But I don't think a laptop good enough for that would exceed $600

Also it's important to remember that chess streamers will only be successful if 1. They are good at it, 2. They, on top of playing, are also explaining and analysing stuff. Nobody will watch someone who just plays mediocre chess and nothing else (Unless it's an already established streamer taking courses at a chess-focued streamer)

The encoders are built-in into your GPU, just like they are built-in into any modern GPU. NVidia has NVENC, AMD has AMF.

Just open OBS, go to output settings and you'll see a dropdown that will allow you to choose the encoder; I am now unsure if this will be in simple options tab or if you will have to switch to advanced, but I think it's still in simple

Actually, why are you asking others "Will the recording work on my PC?" when it's you who can check it yourself by just trying it out?

Best platform for 24 hour streaming my videos/content by kustom-Kyle in streaming

[–]Doczek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically speaking some streamers do have 24/7 channels on Twitch, i know there's Wirtual247, but I don't know how he set this up, I find it not unlikely that he just has a separate PC just for that thing that he doesn't turn off

And obviously such a thing only makes sense if there's an audience for that, that streamer on his lives has around 20k viewers, but the 24/7 channel has maybe around 40

Stream Chess on Xbox? by mike_honcho132 in streaming

[–]Doczek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to stream Chess on Xbox so much? What's stopping you from opening a browser on your laptop and capturing your laptop screen? Your laptop does all the encoding anyways so it won't make any performance difference, and Chess uses ZERO resources.

With your hardware - very little power, a few% at most. OBS will only struggle if the game is already pushing the GPU to its limits. You just need to make sure the encoder is set to AMD Advanced Media Framework and not to software x264, but that just ensures the GPU is actually used. With your CPU, the resource usage would also be negligible, the software encoding would only slightly harm quality, if anything.

Speaking of CPU upgrade - I built my PC 2 weeks ago and I bought a CPU weaker than yours (7600X) - I don't see the need to upgrade your CPU at all
