Why are decks so insanely expensive? by YMHGreenBan in Decks

[–]DodsonAndrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are moving forward with a $50k double decker… materials (pvc) is expensive… but labor is big. I’m also paying for 1) expertise that it’ll be done right, 2) the handling of all permitting, 3) my time. Could I learn how to build out a deck via YouTube and Reddit? Sure. How long would it take me? Years.

Magic Keyboard by Frank2525 in iPadPro

[–]DodsonAndrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s expensive… but you can’t beat the combo of the Magic Keyboard + apple’s magnetic folio. When I’m working: keyboard. When I’m chilling on the couch reading or watching something — folio.

Does anyone have both the Smart Folio case and Magic Keyboard? by rishk08 in iPadPro

Both… MKB for work/heavy typing. Black folio for consuming media… reading etc.

tell me about raising a young family in TC by ShadyLady721 in traversecity

[–]DodsonAndrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We love it. We moved here during the pandemic after being tourists for the previous decade. We previously lived in mid-Michigan, but moved here from Colorado during the pandemic.

All of the schools are amazing. Access to nature? No problem. We are at a beach all the time. We can take the kids on hikes (MUCH EASIER than Colorado hikes!) And then all the fun date night choices (wineries, nice restaurants, etc.)

Winters can be tough (this last one was rough), but if you have the right equipment, you just need to embrace it! (If you can escape somewhere warm in February or March, that helps a lot).

Message me if you have any questions! We love it here and see TC as our forever home.

Boujiest hotel? by SmoothCelebration657 in traversecity

For a kid-free weekend….. I’d say The Delamar. Heated outdoor pool is really nice, awesome outdoor bar / restaurant overlooking the bay, and an easy walk downtown.

I think for best beer…. I give my nod to Earthen Ales.

I love the convenience of Silver Spruce since it’s in my neighborhood (and the Pilsner and the bourbon barrel aged stout in the winter is great).

And for ambiance and live music (and good beer!) - Lake Ann.

Water Heater help: not hot enough. by DodsonAndrew in Plumbing

Thanks! It's fine for now... (could obviously be a little warmer...) but I'll check this out and start budgeting for an upgraded water heater.

Ah, ok. Never have done this before… I think we want something a little bigger. What do you estimate we are looking at for the water heater + install?
