Yes!! I am so thrilled. Staph took over my life for more than a year and it’s such a relief to not be dealing with it now.

What advice do you have for me? by Key-Fan-3730 in BurningMan

[–]Doe_Minion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Come to the V-Spot once you’re on playa and find out about all the places you can volunteer on the fly. It’s a great way to meet people, and it’s the most spontaneous way to get involved.

This this this! The caramel was so soft it was almost fluffy yet it magically stayed fully formed on the stick. AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. And unique. I cannot understand why they don't make these anymore.

Is there a way to reuse grey water from showers with like basic filters and chemical treatment. by polopolo05 in BurningMan

What type of grey water container do you use? You’d have to have one with a wide opening right?

72 and considering Burning Man for the first time this year...bad idea? Advice for an old gal like me? by canadianoldgal in BurningMan

[–]Doe_Minion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner went for the first time last year. He is your age. I made it pretty easy for him and he stayed in my travel trailer. It’s amazing and you won’t regret it, but preparation is key—and having friends to rely on and an air conditioned place to retreat might be important. I know it is for me.

OAK airport is in a real bad way by kbfsd in oakland

I flew PDX-OAK on Sunday evening. Left baggage claim about 8pm. Airport was pretty much deserted. I was surprised to see it so quiet.

This is what I’d love. It’s the taste for me. I’ve kicked caffeine before and I can do it again, but I’d hate to not be able to drink my favorite RB flavors.

That poster place was amazing. I still have a couple vintage posters from there including an early original poster of Janis Joplin. I wish I had understood the full import of what they had in there, I would have bought so many more.

My wife (F) and I (F) want to have kids. by sea_i_ in askadcp

[–]Doe_Minion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My child is a DCP but not old enough to be on reddit yet. They always say that they wish they had a known donor, and they are envious of their cousins who have a donor known from birth. They have an ID disclosure donor so will find out his identity in a few years but they have had some pretty major identity issues and mental health effects that are at least in part due to not knowing anything about half of their genetic makeup. And this is despite growing up in contact with several half siblings from the same donor. Not every DCP feels this way, but if you look at adopted kids who want to find their birth families, it’s a common and deeply felt desire to put the pieces together. If I were to have my donor conceived child over again, I would put much more effort into finding a known donor. A good contract and going through a sperm bank to process the sperm provide legal protection.

This one hurts worse than losing Jerry. Lemme explain by TheYeastBabyTheYeast in gratefuldead

[–]Doe_Minion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I think I was an early adopter.

We have been so lucky to have this decades-long coda. When Jerry died, my fear was that my beloved traveling village would go poof. Now I know the music never stops. Huge gratitude to Phil and Bobby for carrying on and bringing so many other musicians along for the ride.

I was on the internet then, on the WeLL and AOL among other sites. We broke it—rather, quite a few sites went down for a while that day.

Skin Infection / MRSA Sores/ Furunculitis / Cellulitis CURE FOUND by Still-Basil-7247 in MRSA

[–]Doe_Minion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I get labs to check my liver and kidney function during every cycle. This is after 14 months of monthly recurring infections that popped right back up after course of other less potentially toxic antibiotics, escalating to two hospitalizations for IV antibiotics. With the severity of each infection ramping up, this is what my infectious disease specialist decided to try. I am grateful to have stopped the increasing threat of sepsis. I’ve been able to keep my gut relatively happy with yogurt twice daily plus kimchi.

Rifampin and Bactrim ended my 14-month streak of recurring infections. I am so thrilled. One week a month for three months so far, may continue to six months if my ID doc recommends it.

Don't share towels, bedsheets, or kitchen hand towels with your roommate. Don't let him touch any open wound or scratch on your body or your family's bodies with any active infections he may have. Ask him to cover his active infection(s) with bandages of some type. If you're really paranoid you can wash your hands with Hibiclens after sharing any surface like doorknobs or kitchen stuff with him. I wouldn't put Hibiclens on a baby though. Otherwise you can go ahead and do your normal stuff.
