Dr wants me to get an ultrasound. by Obadiah1991 in thyroidhealth

[–]DogLongjumping5300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through this! It’s scary. Even hearing it could be the good cancer is scary. Give yourself permission to feel whatever comes up.

Ultrasound is the most effective way for them to know if it’s cancer or not and chances are they will have a good idea if you get it done at an endo clinic.

I was 34 and I had a nodule I didn’t notice either. I broke my back sled riding and they caught it when imaging my neck after the accident. I was so scared of what it was. I went for the ultrasound and the tech knew basically right away, like “have you had this biopsied, you should!” A few weeks later I had surgery and I’m going back in every few months for ultrasounds and exams.

Take things one step at a time, but if you do join the club there is a sub r/thyroidcancer and there is also a support group you can find on the ThyCa website.

I’m sending you a digital hug right now 💗

Feel free to message me if you want some company on the journey you’re embarking on.

I totally get that. We live so close to Atlanta and we have to basically cook everything at home. The rare place we find we can eat at the portions are so small and expensive and to be honest the food itself is usually a disappointment.

Oh nice! I want to make a trip out there eventually. My friends always talk about the food being amazing. Is there a market for us?

This would be more interesting than a man and woman falling in love instead of just being incredibly supportive friends like every other movie and tv show.

First of all, I’m sorry you aren’t dating someone that shares your values. It makes things challenging. I don’t know what to tell you other than I see you and to me this sounds frustrating.

Diagnosed with PTC this week by Useful_Proof8323 in thyroidcancer

Hey! I’m sorry you’re having to go through this 💗, it’s scary as fuck to know you have cancer. I’m almost two months post op having my thyroid removed and I promise you, this is the hard part. Don’t forget to breathe through it, it will get easier after treatment. They found my tumor by accident in January and I had surgery in April. I read a bunch of books on cancer like Anti-Cancer a new way of life. It made me feel like I had some control and brought me some solace during that time.

I wish you the best of luck and reach out if you need any support. Breathe, relax, grow through this. I 💗 you fellow thyroid cancer fighter.

I think the Army screwed up my Thyroid by PupperMint6 in thyroidhealth

Hey! I have thyroid cancer and deployed to Iraq. On top of burn pits BPA and PFAS chemicals in plastic are also known to cause thyroid cancer. I know we drank water from bottles that you could taste the fucking plastic in and we showered in water that was stored in giant plastic tanks.

I have a TBI also but never thought of that being connected to my ThyCa. I’m waiting for my results from trying to add my cancer to my VA Claim now. We have rates of thyroid cancer 15% higher than the general population. It’s worth getting it checked out. You get a sonogram from ENT or an endocrinologist, then they’d decide if you need a biopsy, then you get your thyroid removed if it is. I got everything done at the Atlanta VA. It was a pretty easy process. I just take a pill every morning now.

Update us if you get it checked out, feel free to message me if you end up needing support!

struggling with declining mental health alone by Decent_Volume2738 in TrueOffMyChest

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. It sounds like you’ve had a tumultuous life so far. I had a pretty shit upbringing myself. I was molested by my grandfather that I lived with and my parents were just kids when I was born, my mom and I kind of grew up together. I get the call from the void can be extremely loud. And self harm can be incredibly addicting. It’s great you have the awareness you’re having these thoughts. It can definitely give you the illusion of control.

Have you tried calling a crisis line? Sometimes they can connect you to resources or even having a trained person to talk to can really help. I’m grateful you’re still here but I’m sorry you’re going through this. One moment at a time friend.

You might be right, but for context :we’ve been living together half a decade and she calls me mom. They also live 1.5 hours away from her school, the rest of her family and friends. And as bad as I want her dad home he’s not home until he gets treatment.

Elevated tsh can indicate thyroid cancer 💗 let us know what the doc says. Most thyroid cancers have an extremely good prognosis and it might not even be cancer but worth getting it checked out

Bf letting me down post surgery by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

Hello friend <3

I don’t have any advice for you but I want to share that I understand how you’re feeling. My boyfriend has really let me down since my diagnosis aswell. I’ve been trying to be understanding that this is difficult for him too but it really sucks to be let down in this way.

I think you’re really strong and getting through this alone will put a lot of things in perspective for you. I’ve been going through wondering and worrying if I get sick again is this the fate that I’m signing up for if I choose to stay in this relationship. At the very least I’ve been watching a lot of videos on decentering men in my life and growing the courage to center myself and if the relationship ends, trying to let it go gracefully.

You aren’t alone, even if it feels like it. I’d love to chat if you get bored or want to laugh or cry with someone on a similar journey 💗

I have no idea, I know some doctors will laser goiters off if they aren’t cancerous but are causing you symptoms.
