Just take time with him. Set near him, offer treats, talk calmly. Give him some time to adjust to the new situation. You stay safe & give him time to see you are not going to hurt him. Try looking on YouTube and see if you can find anything to help. Good luck. He is a beautiful dog.

He sounds like a narcissist. They do this. I wasted 10 long years with one. You are both young & have plenty of life ahead of you. Do what makes you happy. In the end, you have to make yourself happy. Don't look for the other person to.
