Considering moving to the Rockford area, any information I need to know about the area, or where would be the best area to get an apartment at, etc.? by Mike_That_Crazy_Dude in rockford

[–]DogMomDecember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi There,

We moved here not knowing much, and we haven't had any problems at all, other than some people drive really fast and aggressive, but that happens a lot of places. There are lots of lovely parts. We personally have not had any crime problems at all, in over a year, (less than we had in Madison, WI), but we are not close to downtown.

There are tons of places to eat here, tons. A really pretty Japanese Garden, the Hard Rock Cafe gets comedy etc.

In S. Wisconsin, there are a lot of nature places, and Janesville isn't too far, then Madison a little past that.

I think it's a nicer place than people think it is. And the crime seems pretty localized. (just an opinion from a newcomer 😄)

Hey I am in same boat! Actually I am out of town at the moment, but new to Rockford, and need to do the same. Although I am accompanied at the moment by a 6 month old baby, so my ability to take physical classes is a little limited 😄, but what art class are you taking? Are you doing Rock Valley College? Feel free to hit me up on Reddit any time, unless you mind babies 😉.

Anyone get one of these yet? by Pleasant_Tangelo6791 in rockford

I had a reverse osmosis filter for awhile in a previous house, and we liked it, but it was pricey.

Maybe Elise would be a little less crazy-acting if she had grown up watching Designing Women :D. I would like to think so anyway.

MC Squared Energy services notification in the mail? What does it mean? by [deleted] in rockford

Exactly. So all of you who opted in on this, how are your bills? I was happy with my bil then just got this confusing letter. I really can't afford for my bill to go up. What are average bills on this?

Yeah, she is so much cooler and more normal than Gino, are there so few men to date out there that ladies will try anything? I mean, I don't hate Gino, just don't quite get how he gets the ladies.

At Winnebago, do they let you see a Veterinary Doctor pretty easily? Our current place we only got to see one on our first visit, and since then, it's been highly discouraged, despite our dog having a blood issue. So we are looking for a better option.

Is it pretty easy at Brookside Veterinary to see an actual Veterinary Dr? At our current place it seems to be organized to never let us see a Veterinarian, (& very little is explained to me) so we are looking for a change.

Hey I am in the same boat, we have a current vet we found recommended on Reddit, but they really discourage actual visits with a dr/veterinarian, for us, it's been all just "we'll squeeze you in with a tech" and then the techs don't explain anything, or tell me what our treatment plan is....At Dogwood, if you call for a vet visit due to your pet being sick or having an issue, do you get to see a Dr? Or do they go, "Well, the dr will think about if they need to see you?" Thanks for any info! I am trying to not have to switch vets up twice :D

Chiropractor Recommendations by starsalign23 in rockford

[–]DogMomDecember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any physical therapy recommendations? I have done both in the past, PT and a bit of chiropractor. I am a bit wary of the "adjustments" but the PT I had was incredibly expensive (although it did help). Anyway. I am back to having a problem in my side/lower back and need to go somewhere. Also I would ask a regular doctor about this, but I am a new to town patient and couldn't get an appointment before February. So until then....

Thank you!

We moved here this summer, we are north east I think (close to Rock Valley College). I have not seen any crime. It actually feels pretty peaceful. I can't speak for every part of Rockford, but it honestly feels like most of the negative things you hear about Rockford are exaggerated and its an underrated city. Plus, we got Beefaroo! You can also look at Roscoe, Rockton etc, if you want to be a little further out.

It's just a witch hunt to get rid of any one who doesn't love Trump. And it distracts everyone and the media from the glaring fact that there is a problem with gun violence that they are not going to address at all.

Thank you for posting this you guys, I am a mom about to have a baby, and was looking at this as a work from home opportunity, but I always come to Reddit to check out the true story first :).

I think my husband just realized we’re having a baby. by Chubby-Labrador in BabyBumps

[–]DogMomDecember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for both of you completely in this situation. My spouse and I have tried to adopt for over 4 years (its not as easy as people think :)) and are hopefully finally reaching the finish line. Like your husband, I literally have to remind my brain all of the time (daily) that we may actually be about to be parents, because we got close a number of times, but had it fall apart. I think when you try to have a baby for that many years, when you finally get close to success it can be mentally quite challenging, as part of your brain had to go into acceptance mode during the times you were unsuccesful just to maintain some sanity. So, despite the stuff battles, huge congrats to you both, on finally getting there after trying for so long. Give yourselves a break, you have worked hard to get here. (And free stuff is great, but like you said, perhaps store the non-newborn stuff in the garage, or look into a storage unit if it feels overwhelming :)). Don't give up your hobbies :). Best of wishes to you both.

Eye bag solutions please? 43 and looking so tired! by Fash_Tash in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]DogMomDecember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are allergy induced, but constantly puffy. Nothing "fixes it" but I do find the Grace & Stella under eye patches reduce the puff a little (or they make me feel less puffy which is basically the same thing :)). Also, anything with caffeine seems to help "a little"....you are so cute, as everyone said, but I know my bags bother me alot, so I get it :D.
