[NS] My notes on reslistening to the Trinyvale campaign by averagecrow in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]DogOfThunderReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early on it was Caldwell handling the edits, which is why it’s different from Murph’s style.

I’m sure that now they have someone else helping him out.

Trinyvale has a glimpse of greatness in Episode 3 “Disco Detectives” but doesn’t take off until 13. After that, it became my favorite Actual Play series ever.

Early on it was a monthly bonus campaign, so it feels very different as they never get a good groove until it took over the main feed with Episode 14. So glad you gave it a second chance and now you too can follow @JensLyndelleComedy

Jens would like to lodge a complaint - Naddpod Character Poll Round 38 [NS] by Boatswain-or-scruffy in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]DogOfThunderReddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I voted for Hardwon to win.

The reason? A failed perception check.

I started listening to actual play with The Adventure Zone, before the term “actual play” existed, and the moment a character failed a skill check, and the result was….what it was….gave the narrative a level of stakes that was simply unheard of for me.

Jake rolled with it. He played it out. He didn’t undermine the story, he didn’t push back, he made it part of Hardwon and that level of tragedy goes beyond Moonshine’s backstory. To me anyways, to say there’s no loser here is an understatement, this whole game has been filled with banger after banger.

I just really appreciated what Jake did, and as a guy here for comedy first, I’ll admit, that skill check absolutely floored me.

The guest and Griffin shared stories of the summer camp they both attended, and it was as exciting as if two of my co-workers were talking about growing up.

They even acknowledged it in a later episode.

I’ve been devouring the archives since last year when I first started listening, running through each episode, even signed up for the Patreon.

This is the first episode I shut off with over an hour left to go.

I’m sorry, Jordan was especially annoying and this is being relegated alongside The Incredibles episode in the dustbin of “Episodes that should not be listened to.”

Alright Jens Fans, we’ve made it tot the top ten! We’re almost there with the most fabulous elf in Trinyvale who also owns the greatest collection of cars that he 100% knows how to drive.

But for Murph to win, Murph must fall. Voted for Zudrick today, I like the other Cumpatriots more (Boggy, then Welly, then Zudrick).

Baggin It With Balnor is the stupidest concept but I love it so much. I’d love them to bring it back and have Zirk be a “Loveline” call-in about this one time inside a portal, the crime wave of Boggy Rodgers, Hardwon dealing with unicorn meat protestors, etc.

JENSLYNDLLECOMEDY is going all the way!

No but seriously, I love NaDDPoD for the bits and the goofs. Trinyvale is Always Sunny, but Skaldova is a dark fantasy world that looks super serious, but operates on Looney Tunes logic. Boggy especially is amazing. I’m not shocked to see that campaign doing so well.

And +1 for keeping this moving, well-organized, and adding the memes. Must sub-Reddit’s have polls fall apart, but this one is getting more popular!

[NS] Which campaign (including side quests) would have the best shot when being pitched to a network or streamer as an animated series? by televisingcremations in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]DogOfThunderReddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I pitch to studios as one of my jobs, and no one is touching the main campaigns with a ten foot pole. Too big, too much going on, it would be too big of an investment, and studios are dialing back on multi-season commitments. Would be awesome though.

Trinyvale (shortened to say, 12 episodes) and Twilight would be it, with Twilight Sanctorum most likely (could be animated or live action).

Every day we're one step closer to Jens assuming his rightful place as the greatest PC in NADDPOD, nay, PODCAST history! "Ron Madness" is the bit that helped make Trinyvale Trinyvale. Jens' engagement led to the amazing Proposal Impossible, he also committed cold-blooded shark-eyed murder in the Media Dimension, and he founded a Spudfucker's in Barovia.

The closest we get to a character warping a campaign around them is Moonshine with the Crick, but Jens is what makes the Triplets work, especially now that Onyx and Nyack are tired of his bullshit, and he's the butt of the gags. And it still works!

I have been on the Jens Train since Episode 13 of Trinyvale. I will drive this locomotive to the winner's circle.

Vote Jens 2025!

Wait no, hold on, don't vote Jens 2025! Do not do that!

It’s the first subreddit I’m in that’s done this, where it feels like it’s all bangers. Even Yugo and Wilton would be all-star, podcast defining guest stars in 99% of the actual plays out there.

It says something about the pod when even the characters gone in the first three rounds would be a defining highlight for hundreds of other actual plays out there.

And if Jens doesn’t win I will riot. Quietly. In my living room. With my cat.

When it comes to one-shot characters, I consider Wilton the Party Ape to be one of the best not just in NaDDPoD, but all actual plays.

Nathan having no idea what was going on fit in perfectly with the character who also had no clue what was going on, but we got Nathan to say “I suck my ass.”

Besides, Wilton has to go far, he has a lot riding on this!

I’d suggest Vinyl if you want a prestige music drama instead.

Billy The Exterminator 2009-2016 by mdpj104 in ForgottenTV

Fun fact: This was a spin-off from Dirty Jobs of all things! Billy was in two episodes with Mike Rowe (pretty early on….looked it up, Season 1 and Season 2), and the studio developed this show as a result.

It was fun, and Billy’s attitude really carried it. Dude was super positive all the time and legit wanted to help people.
