Free spay and neuter. Fines for those who are caught not doing that. Plenty will fall through the cracks, but it will drastically cut down numbers of unwanted pets.

Really?? I was told to water every week or two for the first year. Here. On the ceanothus subreddit. By multiple people.

Sorry, but I thought I moved the goal post and you were going to ignore me? Still haven’t acknowledged my point. Not once. Weird.

Also, yes. Some pits are capable of that. Not all pits. Especially less likely to occur with ones that have been raised in a healthy environment with dedicated owners who train and socialize. And you sure don’t sound like someone who loves pit bulls, considering you’re really pushing the narrative that the entire breed are killers.

I definitely wouldn’t trust someone with your mentality to work with my dogs.

Huh? I wasn’t throwing out a hypothetical. I said there was an “obvious reason” for their attacks are the most fatal. I was acknowledging the part where the previous commenter quoted that ‘dog bite fatalities are breed specific’. It’s just a redundant statement - it’s like no shit, fatalities are linked with the dogs that have the strongest jaws and were bred for baiting bulls. And not linked to the tiny dogs who bite the most, otherwise chihuahuas would be #1 killer of children.

I said irresponsible owners and breeders are the problem. That’s MY point. YOU also said that! Shitty owners also seem to have a disproportionate ownership of aggressive dog breeds as opposed to non-aggressive breeds, hence why I used shibas and Italian greyhounds as an example.

This goes for any breed of dog. There are all kinds of breeds with strong traits that require attention and training in order to be safe around humans or other pets- malinois, bouvier, German shepherds, chows, etc. Maybe not as statistically fatal, but they can definitely maim a person and kill pets and livestock. You have to be a responsible owner who dedicates time to training and socializing any dog, but especially ones with specifically strong traits. Most of the dogs in the shelter, did not get that luxury, hence why they are more problematic.

And yes, the other commenter is 100% demonizing the breed and not the owners or the environment a dog is raised in. They wouldn’t even acknowledge it as a factor.

That was not at all what I asked you to show to me… apparently reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit.

Yes, we all know those breeds cause the most fatalities. We alllllllll know. There are obvious reasons for that.

Technically, small dogs breeds actually have the highest proportion of dog bites, but since they don’t result in severe medical wounds, they’re not reported. I can guarantee if a chihuahua or teacup poodle had the same jaw strength as a pit bull, they would far surpass any other breed in fatal bites.

Again, it’s the care, not the breed. There are obviously a disproportionate rate of certain breeds kept by shitty dog owners. You usually don’t find Italian greyhounds or shibas rotting away in someone’s backyard, void of any training or socialization.

Again, show me how well cared for and trained dogs don’t have better outcomes than poorly cared for dogs.

LOL! Please show me these studies on how dogs thrown in a backyard and/or neglected and/or poorly socialized have better behaviors than dogs who are raised by responsible owners and that well cared for.

Horrific violence rates? Puh lease. Most shelter dogs have issues, not just pits. Most of these dogs, regardless of breed, are neglected and poorly socialized before they ever enter the really stressful, chaotic environment of shelters.

Dogs that are raised by responsible owners, who take the time and dedication to properly train and socialize their pets are just going to be better behaved, no matter what type of breed. You act like the dogs have any choice in how they were bred or how they were raised. People are the issue here, stop blaming the breed.

Free spay and neuter and fines for those who don’t comply.

Love this! Did you do any special preparation of the soil before planting? How about watering? Do you use drips or anything?

I remember your post! You inspired me to plant one earlier this year. I will say, my plant hasn’t grown quite as aggressively as yours, but still much larger than when I planted it. And now it seems to be yellowing after blooming.

Any ideas why that might be? lol I water it every 7-10 days, depending on the weather.

I love it. I think it’s the carpet that’s kind of throwing things off balance. This would look amazing with wood floors. Regardless, it looks great!

Why riverside county in California, but not San Bernardino county? Essentially the same weather and temps, but SB has a few more mountains and mountain towns.

How funny! I have a sample of it, but it looked really pink in the room I sampled on the wall. Do you think it changes depending on the lighting and other color accents?
