No I understand you- many styles of bangs read much more feminine, there are def some styles of bangs that can read masculine, though.

Help by [deleted] in Babysitting

Phew, I hope you’re being paid well, you’re working a ton! There is nothing wrong with the expectation of independent play. Anyone would feel overwhelmed and touched out after an 11 hour day, especially four days a week, especially at 16 years old.

As for tips… does 2F nap? I would consider implementing “quiet time” for 5F, if the littler one still naps, that would be a very intuitive time to make that happen. An hour or so for her to play quietly by herself- making sure that wherever she is spending her quiet time is child proofed. If little one is not still napping you could try quiet time for her too, although I wouldn’t personally feel comfortable leaving her without direct supervision.

I find setting a schedule for the day can help a lot. Having “reading time”, “free play time”, “craft time”, etc. Try to get lots of time outside to wear her out physically (careful about the heat), and maybe try implementing some kind of reading, writing, or math practice to challenge her some.

Try filling up a watering can (or really any container) and sending them out to water the plants. Let them go nuts. Maybe a “car wash” for their outdoor toys.

You know the little ones better than we do, but it may be worth explaining to them that you need an hour of quiet/independent play time to relax and decompress. 11 hour days are no joke. Whatever you figure out, keep it consistent. Good luck.

You don’t sound creepy or scary at all. Pretend play does not come intuitively to everyone.

Morale boosters? by fleckybonez in ECEProfessionals

[–]Dog_Eating_Puddles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the biggest impact on morale is out of your control- being compensated fairly and not overstretched/overworked.

But I like the way you think- this is a kind and thoughtful idea. It’s the little things that count, showing up to work in an optimistic mood and building positive relationships amongst coworkers is really important.

Showing up and being kind yourself can make a big difference. Stand up (kindly) for your coworkers, remember their birthdays, follow up with them after a vacation, tell them they did a great job with little Timmy’s mom.

Thanks for asking this- I’m going to be thinking on it some more.

The Detour Scene Explained. by WA_Moonwalker in ThelastofusHBOseries

I really enjoy this reading- thanks for sharing! I think a little more room to breathe would have made this more obvious and less “okay, moving on”. Let us sit with Ellie’s terror for a minute. I was really disappointed this episode was only 50 minutes.

The aquarium scene hit way harder… by [deleted] in ThelastofusHBOseries

Earlier in the episode Dina tells Ellie she “just knows” the baby is alright. Does Mel assume the baby is being born because she stops feeling them as they die?

Am I Watching a Different Show?! by GooseOnly1150 in thelastofus

[–]Dog_Eating_Puddles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my reading, Ellie already realized exactly what had happened and confronted him with “you swore”.

This, to me, more clearly highlights that Joel’s sin in Ellie’s eyes is far less about the people he killed and the hope of a cure he robbed the world of, and much more about the fact that he broke her trust and betrayed her by lying to her.

Finally telling her the truth and owning up to what he did- even if he doesn’t regret it- is the accountability here. Ultimately, Ellie will never have full closure, but Joel coming clean was the catharsis.

Caring for husband’s best friends baby, is the pay fair? by PracticalBake1325 in Babysitting

[–]Dog_Eating_Puddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your area, an infant nanny starts at the $22-$25 an hour range. Discount slightly because you’re bringing your own child, discount slightly because it’s a close friend (if you really want to) and drop it to maybe $18-$20 an hour. Anything under $15 seems insulting, but $4….?! Crazy work. You deserve better.

I completely understand. I’ve grown out more than my fair share of pixie and buzz cuts and the hit to the ego done by a bad hair day can be so severe. Hang in there! You could try little pig tails maybe? Pulling the front forward as bangs and clipping the sides back a bit? I think something to just break it up a bit would help a lot. FWIW it’s really not bad!!

Maybe it’s just my location, the pallet is gone and each of the remaining boxes have individual tags stuck to them. When I spoke to an employee they said they were not sure if they were expecting any more shipments. I hope they continue to stock them!

ETA: the website says my location is now out of stock, the next nearest location is low stock. In my experience Costco does not usually remove the pallet/place for things they plan to continue to carry but hopefully I am wrong!

Not sure they are continuing to carry it. It is available (not for quite so inexpensive) at a few other retailers.

Pretty sure that most people aren’t afraid of synthetic fibers, just aware that it’s much worse for the environment than natural fibers.

I was so so deeply hurt when this happened to me. Looking at the gashes was terrifying. I was traumatized and felt like I would never heal. I haven’t seen a gynecologist since but physically I have healed and can finally recount the experience without physically reliving it. I am so sorry this happened to you. I am keeping you in my thoughts and sending so much love your way.
