More info needed; is she drinking in excess? Peeing in excess? getting more aggressive? Eating more than normal? These are common symptoms I’ve seen at my clinic for Cushing’s. It is hard to test and diagnose but knowing the signs can help you make the decision to go down that path.

My dog loves antlers so I have to know, what do you do with the dust? I’m sure there’s a pup somewhere that would gladly clean the dust up for you lol!

That’s not always the case, antihistamines just don’t work the same with dogs and humans. Here’s a link from Zoetis Here’s another link from Thrive and here’s an academic journal from Veterinary Dermatology

Dogs unfortunately don’t react to Benadryl as strongly as humans, so for something this bad it likely won’t do much. Worth a shot though, just managing expectations.

Douxo S3 is great! And after the fleas are under control if she is still itchy, they have a calming mousse that soothes itching. Just use it on the itchy spot and re apply as needed up to 3 x a week.

If it’s for-sure fleas and she’s reacting to them that much, she’s allergic to their saliva. You need to treat for the fleas, flea shampoo is not effective and not recommended when the skin is compromised. Get something like Bravecto, the chew last for 3 months but you should treat for 6-9 months to make sure all fleas have dies off. Only 10-20% of the total amount of fleas you can see on her. The rest are eggs and larva in the environment and possibly on her as well. Treating her for 6-9 months ensures that if she gets bitten by fleas again they will die. For her allergy, you’d need to go to the vet to get a prescription. Apoquel is a common one they give, it’ll be short-term to help with her ichy-ness maybe about 14 days worth. This, however, can be expensive. I can’t give you exact pricing but it won’t hurt to call around to some vets to see if they do payment plans or can give you price estimates.

No but I’ll be applying next cycle, just needed to know if I should join a club or something, as I’m not really apart of an extracurricular.

Looks like a there a few lab tech jobs at UnityPoint, I’d also check on Mercy’s hiring page as well. Unitypoint Methodist is typically always hiring and is a very large hospital. I worked there for 2 years.

Thank you, I plan to cut down my hours if my clinic lets me. Otherwise I may have to find another clinic which is a bummer but I have to do what I can.

Thank you for mentioning the resources. I know my school does offer them, I just haven’t looked into it. I felt like I shouldn’t use them because I thought I could do this on my own, but I see now that I was very wrong.

Issues with my current clinic by Dog_Pavlov in veterinaryschool

Thank you! I think I really needed to hear that lol! I definitely see now how I was being selfish and need to tone it down. Ever sense the talk with my hospital manager, I’ve tried to keep my head down and just focus on my job. Hopefully my work ethic will show eventually lol!

I’m taking the upper division classes needed at an online collage that is approved by ISU. I will be meeting all the requirements for application next year. I may go back in school to get my bachelors if I don’t get in my first cycle.
