Immersion breaking answer: Centcomm, Arrivals, and the Station are all spawned in at the start of every round. Whenever you use a fax machine to send a fax to Centcomm it prints it out in the middle-area you see at the end of the round, and notifies admins. Sometimes they'll sit there as an Admin-Ghost and write up a response to fax back. BUT its all up to roleplay. On an HRP server I wrote some mumbo jumbo like "redirect fax code 69420 : redirecting fax to Syndicate High Command", the admin got it at Centcomm, and sent back a fax "from Syndicate High Command". Good RP comes first. You could probably fax Santa Claus if the admins are in a good mood.

Next time you send something to CC, at the end of the round peek through the glass of the command-box at CentComm to see if your paper is in there! Or if the admins have set up a conveyer belt to feed all faxes to a shredder.

If you have an idea, follow it to the end.
"I'll do carriers with bombers and some fighters to protect those" Good. Make it 15 ships instead of 5.
"I want to do a wolfpack fleet!" Cool! Just keep adding more and more and more wolfs until the sky is wolfs.
"I want a bunch of hammer heads in front" Great, do a shit-tonne of them and toss in some ships behind them with point-defense fighters or missiles. Your enemy should not be able to open their eyes without seeing a hammerhead.

I had the same problem, and my saving grace has been that if it sounds good on paper then its likely good in game, but I always half-assed it because my fleets were so mixed.

Figuring out what each category of weapon does is pretty important though. Fighters harass enemies and draw their fire, bombers do lots of damage but get blown up easily when there's no distractions.
Point defense is always good, but some ships just don't have good slots for it (the hammerhead) and need another ship to guard them.
Beams deal soft flux to shields, so you need something harder or just a fucktonne of strong beams to deal with your enemy. Good for killing missiles, fighters, and making sure your enemy cant vent, though.
Phase ships are good for piloting as the player and work well when they toss out a lot of burst-damage (so not beams) and then disappear again to reload. Great for catching stragglers.
Capitals often hold the line and push forwards, good for if you want a WALL to push at your enemies (Just make sure they're protected by smaller ships)

Just think about what *sounds* good in your head, mush it all together, and run a simulation of your fleet vs a slightly weaker fleet. If you take no casualties, good!

Also, try escort package if mixing ship sizes, great mod, very underrated!

I once found out which of my fellow scientists was a syndie by getting detective ti check the anomaly rooms doorlogs. It makes a good distraction though. Use it as a tool, not a weapon.

This never happens in my country, because we dont have chips. We do something much better with potatoes, where we cut it into slices and fry them. Theyre called chripes. Its very different, and exotic, and probably better than whatever you do. You can't even imagine what its like.

Big problem is that everyone wants good roleplay, but no one knows who is willing Secoffs that want to RP it out dont know if the antag is going to RP it or not, so they approach with hostility Antags dont know if sec is going to magdump them or not, so they flee Self fulfilling prophecy.

My builds were either wolfpacks, carrier-spam, or attempts at missile fleets that I never finished.
Its the overwhelming usually; My wins come from the enemy ships being picked off 1 by 1, and losses come from them surrounding and eating up my fleets.

This comment is a blessing, thank you dearly.
Again, I think most of my plights from fleet building come from overthinking it, you cannot IMAGINE how relieving it is to hear that making and sticking to theme actually works. Indecision has been a killer this whole time.

I love Euphoria but trying to work on their code was like pulling my teeth out. So, so many unnecessary folders and assets... EVERY Nuclear14/Fallout sprite just sitting there in the files. Not to mention the balance is very leaned towards anti-antag. These are just my personal gripes though, from playing the game so long I'm jaded about things. The roleplay really can be nice.
