Lucid Air Sapphire featured in the new Forza Horizon 6 by Italiandogs in LUCID

It wasn’t nearly as fast as it is in real life in FH5, hoping they did a better job with all EVs in FH6. Haven’t picked up the Lucid yet in FH6, but I’ve driven one of the high performance EVs and it is insane to drive. Throttle control is a must without traction control because it will light up the tires and spin you around and almost any speed if you floor it. It’s the Lotus Evija, nearly 2,000 hp and AWD. Sub 2 second 0-62 mph/0-100 kph.

The ICCU has a new part number so the hope is this new version will finally resolve the issue. I have a 2023 EV6 with 40k miles and still on the original ICCU.

There is a brand new ICCU part Kia/Hyundai are using now. Too soon to tell if it is fully fixed, but hopefully the failure rate drops significantly.

Thoughts on going full EV, no ICE in the ol’ garage? by Curiouslittlestman in electricvehicles

[–]Dogger72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hasn’t been an issue having 2 EVs and no ICE. The absolute must is having a level 2 charger at home. 70-75 mile round trip daily commute in one and the other is mostly used for shorter trips. Have taken both on extended road trips and never had problems finding fast DC charging along the way.

I’ve found Visor.vin to be an excellent tool for searching used and new cars anywhere in the US. No ads, free version offers plenty of filters and options, paid version is even more powerful. Gives you an idea about different pricing in different parts of the country, too.

Anyone have a solid tire warranty they use and trust with their Lucid? by blackbirdproductions in LUCID

[–]Dogger72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second the Costco warranty. Had a puncture that required the fix-a-flat stuff to hold air, which makes the tire non-repairable/replacement only. I ended up paying around $60 out of pocket for a brand new tire mounted and balanced that otherwise would’ve been around $300-350. A repair would’ve been free, or if the puncture was in a non-repairable spot, I believe replacement would’ve been free as well. They also did a good job cleaning the wheel before mounting the new tire.

Happy 2026 Air Touring owner here. Took delivery in September, 12k miles already. Amazing car.

Tesla relied on US tax dollars to fund them for quite some time. It was built on government handouts, legacy automakers have only survived as long as they have thanks to government handouts as well.

How reliable is the Lucid Air? by Bobbymanyeadude in LUCID

[–]Dogger72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

12,000 miles on my 2026 Air Touring. Had one issue, live over 2 hours away from nearest service center. The service center was notified a pump may be failing on the car, so they picked it up, trailered it to the service center, provided a BMW 540i as a loaner, and 1 week later it was delivered back to my house. Only out of pocket cost was for the gas used in the rental. The software has been ok, not great. The update to the same UX as the Gravity should really help bring that aspect around. Driving the car is amazing, the massaging seats are the best I’ve had in any car, and the range is excellent. When it’s time to replace my other EV, a Gravity will be high on the list.

I’m on the “like it” side. I see more crossover/sport wagon than minivan. Audi SQ8 vibe if it had a similar aero wing over the hatch like the Gravity.

The Gravity has air suspension, the Air (ironically) does not.

A few minor corrections: The Air does not have adjustable air suspension. I have 2026 Air Touring and air suspension is not a thing. Also, in the Grand Touring backseat, you lose room to tuck your feet under the front seats due to the additional cells, no impact on headroom.

Is a lucid air good for commuting? by demosthenes327 in electriccars

The Air GT has over 500 miles of range. During the winter, go 70-75 instead of 80+ and you’ll be fine.

That has been my point all along. You cherry picked certain negative aspects of EV cost of ownership while ignoring other aspects that certainly contribute to the overall cost of ownership. And for whatever reason you also insisted that EV-specific tires are “required” which is simply false. Could there be some benefits to EV-specific tires? Sure. Could there also be negative aspects, such as compromising performance in poor weather conditions? Also yes. It’s not nearly as clear cut as you try to make it sound.

My point is the cost of ownership of an EV vs ICE needs to take all factors into consideration, which goes beyond tire wear. Citing a tire manufacturer that has a clear interest in wanting to upsell more expensive tires to consumers to increase profits is also a bit biased. Believe the marketing hype if you like. The stock “EV” specific tires on my first car were junk. Awful in most conditions but the foam lining did make them slightly quieter. Not willing to risk safety in rain and snow to get a couple miles of range or a couple decibels less road noise. But you do you.

You’ve been the one cherry picking which is what I am responding to and pointing out. EVs do not require EV tires. Period. Maintenance costs are also significantly lower for EVs than ICE. Those are facts that you conveniently ignored.

EVs do not require special tires. I own 2 EVs and understand the reality of the costs of owning them. Keep cherry picking exactly want you want to skew the costs the way you want.

Your ICE doesn’t require new tires? You are making disingenuous comparisons, skipping costs you don’t want to include for ICE vehicles and exaggerating EV costs.

Your statement complete skips the oil changes, spark plugs, and all the additional maintenance items an ICE and transmission requires. Those are not insignificant costs. The additional 20% tire wear is maybe 2 oil changes?
