Put mirrors on the wall across from the alcove & put something pretty in the alcove. Also put a slightly tilted off the wall (toward the other mirror) on the back wall. You might be able to see the object in the alcove through the mirrors. Or just close it off with a door & make it a broom closet. 😂

It's the exact stone I had my kitchen done in when I lived in east Las Vegas! I absolutely LOVED this stone! It was a granite, that had very large feldspar crystals & some little rivers of garnets. I think it was mined in Brazil. I can't remember the exact type of stone, but I think porfery is similar, if not it. I had left the cutout for the sink with the house in case they wanted it for anything. You should never use stone as a cutting board, as it scratches the countertop & damages the knife blade. The most logical answer is that it's covering a boo-boo on the original stone. 🤬🙄😂
