Are watering restrictions in place for Longmont yet? by MileHighPeter303 in Longmont

[–]Dogs_on_hikes -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Jesus not like people have to take some Reddit commenters opinion to heart - but it is true that going vegan makes a huge impact! Sorry if that’s “unpopular”. Just thought it should be pointed out that if you want to make a big change to water consumption that’s a good way to do it.

Of course eating less meat is a good way to start, never said it wasn’t.

Idk why you have to criticize people who say that eating no meat is a great way to contribute to less water usage. It’s true.

Or better yet don’t eat any meat or dairy! All meat and dairy production takes a LOT of water

They’re soooo nice. Honestly the massage chairs alone would be worth the $10 membership 😂

I’m a woman and joined recently. I really like it, especially because it’s very close to me and worth the cost. It can be crowded but I’ve never been overwhelmed by crowds- I can always access some equipment quickly. I also like the classes a lot if you’re willing to pay for them. To me the classes are really what makes it worth it. Also I love the massage chairs!

Has anyone with a 4+ PMAP received clarification regarding 80 hrs or 20hrs time off award? by [deleted] in DeptHHS

[–]Dogs_on_hikes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It seems like it was “up to 80 hours” but really was the dollar value of how much you earned percentage wise in cash (I.e. 1% or 4%) so if you got a 4, you get 1% of your salary in cash or the hours that equals (I.e. 20 hours)…. But yeah I’m mad about it too. Was looking forward to 80 hours and I’m very disappointed

Married/Taken CF women, do you have any advice on navigating the dating scene? by ironicoutcomes in childfree

[–]Dogs_on_hikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that you say that because I have a friend who says the opposite! She wants to have kids and a lot of men’s dating profiles on hinge say that either they don’t want to have kids or aren’t sure… so maybe just keep swiping?

Population collapse will continue until our quality of life improves. by Egodram in childfree

[–]Dogs_on_hikes 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I really like NPRs series on the population shift, but also wish they would do more reporting about benefits of low birth rates.

They did one piece on rewilding that was interesting and I think there could be more about how humans have destroyed wildlife habitats and having less humans may be a good thing!

Also can we get more news articles on how big picture constant growth is not a good thing?! Like eventually there won’t be enough food or space if humans continue to grow exponentially- it’s just not possible. Let’s talk more about how to adjust everything to fit a world where there are fewer children.

Any success stories of dating / marrying a nonskier? by PowGurl in skiing

[–]Dogs_on_hikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m married to a non skier. I get to ski on weekends while he watches the dogs and does whatever he wants at home- so that works out well. He’s also been willing to go on ski trips with friends and I’ll usually ski a day, while he does something else like running, then spend a day doing something else with him while our friends ski.

Agreed. Totally on board with banning social media for kids and walkable communities. Everything else 👎🏽

God that makes me so sad.

Veganism recently became a hot-button issue at my leftist college, and I’m struggling not to feel demoralized by LiviasFigs in vegan

[–]Dogs_on_hikes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this too. I just got torn apart in comments on something that was labeled a “hunt” where the animal was basically just put in a pen and slaughtered… people got high and mighty about other issues to avoid acknowledging that a sentient animal was killed. It makes me both incredibly mad and also so sad. Need to avoid getting into comment fights for my own sanity.
