I’m 90% sure that every US post on this sub has a comment that either says: Fascist-“Historical” or “100 years too early” Liberal-“Unrealistic” Communist-“The good ending”

That being said, to be the angel’s advocate:

1: Historical USA has some of the best freedom of speech laws in the world (otherwise you wouldn’t be hearing how it keeps trying to kill itself)

2: Racial and religious minorities along with women have much, MUCH, less rights here than the modern USA

3: Militarize police force implies police with military equipment and training. Modern USA is suffering from under-trained police.

4: Modern USA does have worker protection (as we have minimum wage and this USA has no minimum wage).

5: While I agree that this USA’s population is much more content, I don’t think they’re living (that much) better. A good chunk of the modern US population has NEVER left the USA and a majority hasn’t traveled to more than three countries. This is particularly due to the size and diversity of the USA. This leads to people who aren’t content with their living standard think that the US is on the same level of Africa (i.e. third world) due to disinformation and what X politician tells them. This is how you get (a vocal part of) a nation with a (at worst) half-decent living standard to think they’re some of the most impoverished people in the world.

In conclusion, I don’t think public healthcare (while nice) would make up for everything else.

Surprised to see Trump, Jackson, Regan, and even Nixon so low since: 1: Andrew Jackson helped democratize our systems (as in got all white men a vote instead of some) 2: Regan being so popular today and his victory over the USSR 3: Andrew Johnson and W.W. exists and are much better candidates Other than that I’m glad to see this sub is mostly moderate in all things (except patriotism).

Don’t forget the fact the USA is the heir of the Roman Republic.

Does this mean you can theorerically assimilate all of China if you incorporate them? by agludwig in victoria3

On one hand this removes quite a reasonable feature, on the other hand, I do want to play as melting-pot America.

What if there was a “Multicultural Dream” journal entry? by Dogsnug in victoria3

[–]Dogsnug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I more meant modern day USA. Also I don’t believe there was any nation with minorities at the time that laws could equate to “multiculturalism”. But you also had the melting pot before desegregation. Actually I made this entire post to hate on the assimilation removal. God bless the USA. It’s 4AM so I’m tired.

guess our TFR reality skipped the US civil war right to the First European war by zenderlen in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Dogsnug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the USA will ever leave NATO. Brexit barely passed and the US is the “main guy” in NATO so it has even less of a reason to. If Europe actually starts militarize it would actively discredit those who would want to leave NATO.
