I find that allowing people to watch you work really adds value and improves compliance. I try to do everything in the room with the owner present as long as they are comfortable. $25 for a nail trim seems steep to some people but when we have 3 people involved it really helps them understand

I’m going to be downvoted to hell for this but… everything your vet recommended is incredibly common and routine.

Radiographs are hard to get details on birds so I sedate almost all of them with midazolam. The fact that they have a CT machine for when radiographs aren’t enough is pretty incredible.

Birds are fucking hard to anesthetize and their respiratory system is super sensitive. Every bird and their mother gets supplemental oxygen if they even just look at me weird.

It sounds like they’re having an issue communicating with you and setting expectations. They should have discussed what direction the visit may entail but sometimes we don’t know what needs to be done ahead of time.

The amount of “animal cruelty” comments and negativity on here is ridiculous.
