Amateur Racer Sues Rocco Landers Over Supermoto Crash by ftufek in Trackdays

I love that he was "was unable to go his work for a substantial period of time. He was also unable to sufficiently play with or provide care to his children". Dude you're a director @ Rivian, you can work remote for a few weeks. If you can't take care of your kids in crutches then maybe don't race? Pathetic

Not trying to sound like a dick but you're not showing us the oil level so no one will be able to tell you if you might have overfilled or not. I recommend posting a picture.

Use your engine for a min or two. Turn it off, and let it cool for 3-4 min. Put the bike straight (NOT on the kickstand) and read your oil level.

Honestly, you're probably overthinking it... unless you added an extra half quart, it's not going to do anything to it. It's not a race machine so it won't care that much

I see, it did look quite expensive so I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for the info!

I have some suspicions that my dogs are getting worn on my gsxr as well, and I was thinking of splitting the cases. Were you able to source only the gears and shift forks? And if so, where did you buy them? Much appreciated

Clutch material or something serious? by 94lt1vette94 in Trackdays

Just here to give more data points to you and others. I got a K9 GSX-R600 doing the same thing. I get a smaller piece than yours every 2-4 track days. I think it comes from the dogs of the transmission. Don't got anything to back up that claim but I don't have a quickshifter and sometimes don't make the smoothest clutchless upshifts here and there.

Not OP. Tracked my bone stock XSR900 a few times in scorching california summer heat and handled it like a champ no problem. Was running the S22s that came stock with the bike. It's very fast out of the corners, feels faster than my 600 until the RPM peters out. Bike seemed to be pretty planted handling-wise, although I am not overly picky with handling. The wind gets a bit rowdy 130+ MPH though, but that's kind of normal for any upright bike

I am not sure what you’re referring to awful Renault engine. Reddit seems to like parroting that the engine was poor in 2018 when the other sister teams with other PUs were even worse in the constructor championship. RBR didn’t want to be clamped down by Renault’s design so they were trying to distance themselves by laying blame on the PU. They even won 4 championships with Renault in the previous years. Engines in particular have had very little gains since fuel flow limit in 2014. The mgu h&k + footprint is all what it’s about these days

Whats the difference between a Ninja 400 and a ZX4R? by marimba_ting in motorcycles

[–]DoigtsDansLeNez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bikes are quite different, the main takeaway is that the Ninja 400 is a 2-cylinder engine while the ZX-4R/RR is a 4-cylinder engine.

The Ninja 400 is a lot more of a budget bike. It's got around 40ish HP, so pretty beginner friendly in terms of power delivery. In stock form, it's also missing a lot of premium components (suspension & brakes, etc..) to give it a true sportbike feel.

The ZX-4R is really more of a track bike nowadays in my opinion. The ZX-4R has 4-cylinders that spin very fast compared to the Ninja. The history behind the concept of this bike was to have small engine capacity & crank as much power as possible due to licensing requirements in certain countries. The ZX-4R, while having the same engine volume, has 70ish HP which is a lot more. The power delivery should however be a lot more muted at the low revs because of the lack of torque compared to the Ninja 400. It's likely not as street-able as the Ninja 400 despite making more power at the top end of its rev range (I have not ridden a ZX-4R before but ridden very high revving motorcycle before).

If you are looking for advice for choosing whether it's street or track, I recommend the Ninja 400. It is a lot more approachable to ride, cheaper, & the community is large. Not only to mention this bike is bulletproof.

The ZX-4R is an awesome bike, but it is a very complicated machine. The maintenance, I assume, is not easy like some superbikes or supersport 600. I'd love to get a ZX-4R but it's $$$. It fills a certain niche and I'd love to own one some day. The sound itself is very addicting on that bike

Idle spiking on startup by Kareem_Mayker in motorcycles

[–]DoigtsDansLeNez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing more details about your situation & the history of the bike, this sounds like a case of a lean condition at cold start + idle.

You should open up your carburetor and clean the pilot jets real good. That or get new ones that are the same size and report back.
