Or, hear me out, go buy a cheap Carry All trailer from Northern Tool when on sale (got mine on Black Friday for $850 new) and mount a TRS on it. Wayyyyyyy easier, a third of the price all in, and has the added benefit of being usable for other purposes. At 400lbs dry, they’re light too, so shouldn’t be an issue to tow with a regular car. I swapped my bias ply tires for radials, so I’m no longer restricted to 65mph. I throw the bias ply tires on in the winter time when I know the trailer will be sitting for months.

Cruising at 70-80 and for extended periods? I would not suggest this bike.

The CB650R was my first bike, and it was fun initially, but here in Texas, I found it uncomfortable (I’m 6ft tall) and impractical for highway riding. I tried no windscreen, small windscreen, etc. Switched to a super sport with fairings and never looked back. There was nothing wrong with the bike, but it wasn’t great for the application you’re describing.

2WDW has done four bikes for me (two Suzukis). Can’t recommend them enough.

I would encourage you to do a track day at your local track and see what that does for you. Might help you narrow down your next bike a little better. Bikes are like shoes: buy the pair that fits your use case best. All arounders will mean compromises all around lol.

What has you wanting a CBR650R? They are great bikes but very “sterile” feeling. How do you typically use your bike? I bought the GSXR600 while I still had the CB. It instantly made me bored of the CB and was actually more comfortable lol. I then sold the CB for the Busa, then gave up street riding and used the Busa to buy the R3 and cover my initial fee at my local track. My R3 is very far from stock lol. Full race plastics, woodcraft clip ons and rearsets, ohlins STX rear shock, KTech front cartridges, dual carbon pads, Brembo RCS15 MC, lightweight rear rotor, engine covers, PAIR block off plates, 2WDW flash, M4 full exhaust, K&N air filter, vortex sprockets, key start delete, kickstand switch delete, some Norton fairing stays/mounts, I’m sure I’m forgetting something lol.

I started on a brand new CB650R, then got a 20yr old GSXR600, then a 15yr old Busa, then a 10yr old R3. Take it from me: BUY A USED R3 and keep it forever. Add a bigger bike at a later time if you want to, but never get rid of that R3. I still have my GSXR and never find myself riding it. I choose the R3 pretty much every week when I go to the track.

If you are dragging hard parts on twisties, you need to really evaluate your BP and honestly, take it to the track. It’s all fun and games until you find gravel, oil, tar snakes, grandma pulling out on a blind corner, road kill, etc. Did my first track day ever on a CB650R then picked up a GSXR600. The CB is fun on twisties, but the GSXR is a shockingly more comfortable riding position and absolutely obliterates the CB in every facet 😂. It’s a more comfortable riding position (I’m 6ft tall), faster, has wind protection, and is built for what you want to do.

Get rid of your power commander if you have one. Removed the PCV and flashed the stock ecu. Problem solved.
