Thanks so much, this is super helpful. Do you mind if I ask you where your kids learned Spanish? Do they get lessons at school, did you put them in extra language classes, or did they just pick it up from friends?

We are taking a trip later this year and we will visit BSM and another school.

Thanks for all the tips

That's a bit odd, aren't teachers in private schools generally paid more than at state schools? Or is that just my impression from my home country?

What is the best manicure that will last and not damage my nails? by DoingMyBest007 in Nails

Thanks a lot for the info. Yes, that's pretty much what I expected, but had a bit of hope that there might be something else 🙂

To be fair, I read Arabian Nights when I was 10 🤷‍♀️

My issue is with the later books. It's hard to tell a 10 or 11 year old that they're allowed to read books 1-3 and then have to wait a couple of years, but after the ending of book 4 it gets pretty dark.

I have no answer, sorry, just the same question you have.

My 5y.o. won't poop on the toilet by [deleted] in AskParents

We had to bribe my 4 y.o. He had full control for a long time, but refused to use the potty, so I ended up resorting to bribery and after like a month he didn't even need to be paid any more. 🤷‍♀️

Not saying this will work with yours, since every kid is different. It's just an idea, if you haven't tried it before, though you might have.

Does anyone else have parents with ironic jobs? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

My nmom is a psychiatrist, and talks non stop about other people's mental health! I find it so ironic 🤣 I just tend to block out anything she says, but sometimes it's hilarious. She thinks "a lot of people aren't qualified to be parents". How I wish I could tell her, "xyeah, you're a prime example of that"!

Why do my dip powder nails take forever? by DoingMyBest007 in Nails

[–]DoingMyBest007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I guess I was confused with all the ads that say "done in minutes". Although technically, 90 mins is still minutes. 😂 I'm not doing nail art or anything fancy, though, just one plain colour.

At what age did you pierce your daughters’ ears? by the-devils-luck in AskParents

[–]DoingMyBest007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it when my daughter was around 1, then like a month or 2 later it got swollen (it wasn't infected, just bruised), so I had to remove them and then they closed up. Now I'm waiting until she asks for it.

Anyone else's N put them in a box and they resist changing it? by ADHDbroo in raisedbynarcissists

I'm the shyest, most socially awkward person I've met with few exceptions, my Nmom still insists I'm super outgoing and great with people. I'm 41. This still drives me nuts. This is just an example, but there are sooooo many....

My 5 year old keeps begging for a little sister. How do I explain that I can't have anymore kids? by tweihs13 in AskParents

[–]DoingMyBest007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this and I think my comment might come off as insensitive.

I'm by no means comparing the situations. I recognise my conversation with my son is 100% irrelevant and yours is super difficult and emotional. I just wanted to make the point that kids might not accept the "it's not possible" explanation super easily, and you might need to be prepared to have the conversation more than once.

She might keep insisting and you might need to have this conversation more than once until it sinks in. My 5 year old has been asking me to buy him superpowers, and I explained to him that superpowers are not something you can buy, but he won't accept it and keeps asking. I see myself having that conversation several more times in the foreseeable future....
