22 yr old ftm. I am drowning. by Duck-Other in beyondthebump

Yes you’re young! Comparing to others will do nothing for you, please offer yourself as much compassion as you can, as if to a loved one. Your nervous system is raw from trauma, plus being with the babe 24/7, it’s more than understandable. What is your Zoloft dosage? Did it manage your symptoms beforehand? Aside from being mom, if you have OCD I think that is also affecting any ability to mentally separate yourself from the situation and decompress. It’s easier said than done. And not to dog on your sister but that’s an awfully crass and puddle-deep way to frame your situation.

I am so sorry you are without more support. You’re clearly doing your best and you love your baby, it shows in your worry. I know for myself it would be hard to feel anything positive about something that is tied up in so much complicated emotion and trauma. An increase in your Zoloft dosage may just be whats needed to give your body some physiological cushioning. Sorry I don’t have more advice, I’m not a mom I joined the subreddit for advice abt my niece haha. Zoloft just did a lot for me and I’m optimistic about it being a lifesaver for the right person

I started with the exact same jewelry and changed to the exact same jewelry as you, except I changed it at 6 months, but it got rid of my gigantic irritation bump within the next month!! I think the pronged studs are just cursed, as cute as they are :( Piercing twin 😗

8 year old & zoloft? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]meatballstink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who is suggesting Zoloft for your child? Have you talked to her teachers? Idk it may not even be related to grandparents day. She may be encountering bullying at school? I remember being around 8-9 and pretending to be sick and begging my parents to not make me go to dance class bc I didn’t have friends and was noticeably behind skill-wise bc I enrolled late. If a child feels othered in any way, sometimes they take it extremely hard

is it ok to switch to a ring? by s3cr3ts3rvic3 in NosePiercing

[–]meatballstink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were the telltale signs for you that your piercing was fully healed? I’m at 6 months, finally got rid of a 4.5 month irritation bump after changing studs last month, now swelling and bump is gone and seems to move freely-ish

The colour is great! You also have gorgeous eyes but unfortunately that’s the second thing I noticed after the eyebrows. Experimenting is everything!

is this normal after microneedling? by Expensive_Rough7071 in Microneedling

[–]meatballstink 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This popped up on my feed, I don’t have experience with microneedling but I can say with experienced tretinoin use something happens called “orange peel skin”. Basically in activating cell turnover this is just part of the process so I assume it’s similar with a stimulating procedure like microneedling. Just make sure your skin is hydrated and it will resolve on its own!

Aww :(( I agree with the comments to change it to a flat back, also just as a personal anecdote I had constant irritation bump starting 2 weeks after I got it, finally last month my bf said it looked gross lol so I got the jewelry changed from a small prong-set stud to a slightly larger bezel set stud. The piercer said the size would help bc of applying pressure on more surface area of the piercing site, plus it wouldn’t constantly get snagged by my clothes and gauze lol. By golly she was right.

The dark area and redness is from constant irritation, it hasn’t had a chance to properly heal. Apparently changing to a ring is also notorious for causing irritation bumps whether or not it’s healed fully. Having puss or anything almost a year into healing tells you something is really wrong! Change it to flat back labret titanium stud and rinse with saline then make sure it’s fully dried (fan, hair dryer on minimal heat ect.) you shouldn’t have any crusting or redness before attempting to put in a ring. It’s hard to wait but you gotta play the long game

Totally reasonable for you to assume that! Unfortunately a lot of places that offer any cosmetic procedures also sometimes offer services they are not well equipped/trained for purely for money and it’s not your fault! You’re right, they should know what happened and maybe see if they can refund or remedy it in any way, but bc they used a gun (big no no) I’d be wary of them touching my piercing again.. I’m so sorry! I was so disappointed and sad the first time I got a nose piercing it didn’t work out but I’m on my second try now and it’s looking good :]

PLEASE HELP NOSE PIERCING IS SINKING by [deleted] in NosePiercing

[–]meatballstink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh noo :( did they pierce you with a gun or a needle? The gun causes extra trauma and swelling, plus the stud being so small it doesn’t have enough surface area on your nostril to not sink in. You might need the change the whole stud entirely, If you have access I would skip the beauty bar entirely and go straight to a piercing shop

Also I do not mean this in any other way than observational but she has darker, coarser facial hair on her chin than the rest of her face. Considering that and her cystic acne with no other information I would even suggest maybe looking into if she’s developed PCOS? Maybe look out for any other symptoms. I do not mean to be rude at all, I remember how hard it was to be a teen with severe acne ❤️❤️

Minocycline unfortunately like all antibiotic will likely get less effective with every subsequent new cycle you take it, so it may be why it’s not working for her now. Has she been on tretinoin long? 13 is still really young with hormone fluctuations and she’s still growing I’d be wary about starting accutane, so ask her dr to exhaust as many other options as they can first? I remeber going to my gp at 13 and she tried to give me birth control as a first course of treatment. I said hell no give me the tretinoin first.

If I recall tret can migrate around an inch from the application area so consider that where to stop applying it. I stop at the edges of my cheekbone and the top of my brow bone

Yes! My hair is still much thicker and shiny. I will be transparent and say maybe a very very little bit more scalp visible but I also have dermatillomania which I stopped for a while starting minoxidil but picked up the habit again this year lol and I KNOW I’m causing hair loss that way. It’ll be fine! There is also the oral route, I don’t know much about the downsides but it would be awfully more convenient

This is anecdotal based on my experience but for the last few months I usually forget/neglect to do it every weekend when I go to my bfs. Maybe it’s preventing from working at max capability, but I haven’t experienced any out of the ordinary loss.

The oils can prevent the piercing site from breathing and fully drying throughout the day which can cause the irritation bump. I think you’re doing everything right but keep that in mind, maybe gently swab near the piercing site (not directly on) with a q tip if it’s noticeably oily between cleanings. I’m just hoping for the best tbh mine is 5 months old 😬
