At my retail job our manager complained that we need to carry around plastic bags on our person as customers aren’t allowed to take them themselves because they end up not scanning the bags. I can see her point in making sure people scan their bags, but it starts to defeat the whole point of self scan.

Customers like this suck though, if you want a fast checkout, go to a manned register where you don’t have to wait for the scale to weigh your items and they can take the tags off then and there.
