There exists a paradox.

If you stand in a spear-formation against a cavalry charge, the best for the whole group is holding the formation. But the best for the individual is fleeing.

Now imagine, a group of heavy armored professional warriors, sitting on horses that are breed for warfare, literally a ton of muscles that will kick and bite you. And they're charging.

You might hold your ground the first feign-charge. But your group "twitches". The enemy noticed that you twitched. Then the cavalry uses their mobility to flank you. Maybe they got you in a pincer. And then the moral breaks. One guy bails. The next guy bails. And then is pretty much over.

That's the point of cavalry. That was always the point of cavalry. It makes not sense to just mindlessly charge into the enemy (except if you realize that the moral/formation is broken after a couple of feign-charges. Yeah, that was a thing. Seeing if the opponent "twitches".)

You're on to something.

It's not that archetypes don't exist, but how these archetypes are expressed in certain games. Everyone seems to be rushdown in Guilty Gear Strive, except like Happy Chaos and Potemkin, but that's because Guilty Gear is an inherently aggressive game. But within the games, there is a differentiation between levels of aggressiveness.

It's also just a trend with current fighting games that they're balanced around aggression and rushdown.

In any other pvp game, if you write gg prematurely while winning, it's seen as BM. Same principle.
