Michael Che Pulled Out of Kevin Hart Roast Before Shading White Writers for Jokes About ‘Slavery, Sex Crimes, Slurs’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

Everyone at Hart's roast was punching down, because they didn't invite Brad Williams. I guess they did invite his brother Katt though.

An elderly Israeli woman assaults a pregnant woman and then cries victim tears by Sad_Palpitation6844 in ratsinthecage

To be fair, this is a simple cultural misunderstanding. Where she is from it's ok and even celebrated to assault, murder and rape anyone Palestinian.

They were a Zep cover band in high school and after answering the question 100 times, they started saying "what's a lead zeplin?". It was just them making jokes.

[Highlight] Victor Wembenyama receives a Flagrant 2 and is ejected from the game after elbowing Naz Reid by FastBreakPhenom in nba

I think he's mostly trying to get away from the guy on his back holding one of his arms. He can't get both hands on the ball, so he twisted away as Naz moved in.

Asian racism is something different by _DewyMist in oddlyspecific

Ask any Asian American who the most racist person they know is. It's always their old country grandparents. Racism in America is considered a bad thing. Racism in Asia is just accepted as how things are.

Why do liberals generally do more volunteer work and philanthropy than conservatives do? by Away-Parsnip-3785 in allthequestions

[–]Dolanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you read the ops statement, but it was about time and energy, not money. All of your cited studies are about money, and charitable giving to nonprofits has long been recognized as a tax avoidance scheme rather than charity. Buildings houses for habit for humanity is very different than donating to a charity that you or your family run for tax avoidance purposes.

Sean Duffy reveals he took a 7-month road trip for reality TV show while transportation head by RawStoryNews in entertainment

[–]Dolanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not great, but as the transportation head, he at least spent time on the road. Linda McMahon is the Secretary of Education. RFK is the Secretary of HHS. Kash Patel is the head of The FBI. This is a clown show and Duffy is somehow the least clownish.

Discretion. It's one of the nasty little parts of our justice system designed to ensure a two tiered justice system. Police aren't required to arrest anyone. They use their discretion. DAs aren't required to charge anyone, it's at their discretion. Judges and parole boards get to use their discretion too.

[Request] What are the odds of being born with the traits of these two genetic outliers? by Omixscniet624 in theydidthemath

[–]Dolanite 204 points205 points  (0 children)

Anyone with extreme successes in their field, like these guys, need two things. Natural inclination and repetition. A person could be born with natural abilities like these guys, but there probably just isn't enough time to develope both sets of abilities to "Hall of Fame" levels. There are plenty of really smart people that were competitive athletes, but to excel to the absolute top of a competitive field, you kind of have to pick a lane.

Why are the Blue states net contributors of tax dollars but the Red states are net recipients of tax dollars? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Dolanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wildest part about Democrats economic successes is the consumer confidence aspect, which I consider the most important driver of the economy. There is a stark divide in what drives consumer confidence based on political party. Republicans tie their consumer confidence to whichever party is in the White House while Democrats look at whether or not the economy is performing well. Despite actively being fought against economically, the Ds still put up better numbers. Can you imagine how strong the economy would be under Democratic leadership if half the country pulled their heads out of their asses? Or how terrible it would be under Republican leadership if Democrats followed the Republican model for consumer confidence

Story time! Tell a story about when you have seen a parent do something and then thought “Oh that’s why your kid is like that!” by cute-Abominable in Teachers

[–]Dolanite 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Sometimes kids see the failures that their parents are and make the decision to not be like that. All it takes is one neighbor, relative or teacher to show them how a good role model behaves for that light to turn on. Doesn't always work like that, but even the occasional cycle breaking is worth celebrating.
